It amazes me to no end that so many people have so little imagination of how much worse things could be for us.

It often seems like a lot of Americans who were always told their country is the best are waking up to the fact that it was mostly lies but still have that "USA best" thing buried down in their subconsciousness from all the propaganda so they start to think the exact opposite is true. That the USA is the best in being the worst, so to speak.
Also explains tankies. "We were told USSR were the bad guys, we were lied to, therefore USSR must have been a paradise."
- Also explain the converse, people living in self-proclaimed "communist" countries loving the USA because "communism" bad, therefore USA must be good. Like those Cuban-American voters supporting trump.
