I was born here... I've lived my whole life here... I'll likely die here.. Why the fuck anyone would willingly travel to this fascist shithole is beyond me.
- At this point, if you have kids teach them Chinese so they can go to a top school.
Naturally, it could reverse starting in 2029. That's the soonest.
- Fingers crossed that it will.
  Unfortunately it doesn't look good IMO. It seems Americans as a people, don't have the will to save democracy, or maybe don't even realize it needs saving?
  
  I think a lot of younger people voted for Trump thinking he would follow through on his promises.
  It seems Ohio already is is expected to lose a seat in the next election.
  Also his immigration policy has been hugely unpopular.
  My dad was a big Trumper last time around. He would bring up Trump all the time. He has not said anything about him for the past few months.
  So, I think the tides are changing.
  
  Americans think they’ve already done enough, if you ask people here on Lemmy.

- I don't think it will get better. Trump is doing shit that will be nearly impossible to reverse even if he and the GOP give up power sometime in the future. Trump will eventually bring jobs back to the US - by making the country into 3rd world status with incomes to rival the current poorest countries of the world and no government oversight or regulation. Who in their right mind would want to travel to that?

The World Travel & Tourism Council projected ahead of Memorial Day that the U.S. would be the only country among the 184 it studied where foreign visitor spending would fall in 2025.

It damages my calm how many people are surprised by this progression, and how many legacy media organizations are doing the same fucking thing. Almost as if they’re trying to stall the public perception that this is a Serious Fucking Situation and we are very much not going to be ok, based on how fucking nothing and nobody appears willing or able to throw a wrench in the works here.

- Well, I’m going to visit family next month. My sister has had 3 kids since I’ve last been back and I’ve only ever met one when he was a baby.
  So there’s that. Hopefully, my flight is relatively empty so I can be comfortable on the flight.
