I keep thinking we need monero insurance (life, health, auto, etc) where premiums are paid in monero and benifits are only paid out in monero. What services do you think we need?
Something like privacy.com letting you signup for subscription services but backed with Monero.

Easy way for youtubers etc to accept donations. Everyone is bloody using patreon.

Physical off-ramp services like delivery, PO Boxes, lockers, etc.. are a weak link right now.
Sure, you can buy giftcards for mostly everything, but if you're buying a physical product, then between the giftcard broker, store and delivery service, your transactions are easily tied to your real identity and location.

I think we need a monero based encyclapedia. Like a wiki fork where instead of a wikimedia foundation, a company being created to manage the software stack, lies a decentralized XMR network powered encyclopedia engine.
4The only reason I can’t contribute to Wikipedia/Wiktionary is, I can’t edit it via Tor. Otherwise I could have improved a lot of articles e.g. when there is a typo in a formula. So indeed, a privacy-first version of WP would sound nice.
WP’s cookies/GeoIP tracking is a bit too excessive; its log retention being very long, possibly indefinite (hence a privacy front-end Wikiless, e.g. https://wl.vern.cc/ ). Freedom to share info must be based on privacy; when linked to real-life work etc., one has to self-censor their speech (e.g. a school teacher may not want to publicly admit that they’re a Monero supporter for fear of potential negative connotation, misunderstanding).
Indeed, WP editors (supposedly intelligent) seem to be generally anti-crypto, arguing they shouldn’t accept donations in crypto…
Admittedly, moderation would be difficult when anonymous editing is allowed. Still WP could let one sign up over Tails, with understanding that their account will be instantly banned if they vandalize something and their first 100 edits will have to be manually approved by a mod. I’m pretty sure the mod would be soon overwhelmingly convinced that this “anonymous editor from Tails” is not bad, perhaps much better than an average editor, and that accepting “mysterious editors” like this could be fruitful.

Not really sure if insurances are a great use case as they always involve your personal info and only make sense in a legal framework surrounding it.
3But at its core insurance is to protect from a major loss by paying a small amount. You could probably do it with very little personal info if you were willing to forego any personalization discounts. As it is you have to convert to fiat to pay it.
1Payouts cut into the profit margins, so insurance companies will pay as little as they can get a way with legally. When paid anon in monero, it's even easier for them to take the money and run (or operate as a ponzi scheme or whatever else).
On the other hand the insurance company must ensure that their customers claims are correct, so that they do not get scammed. I'd assume they demand proof, which does require a lot of personal info.

Insurance is a scam. You are better off saving and investing 50-80% of your earnings and you will be OK no matter what comes up. Plus you will be able to retire early.
3Yes, but that also assumes that most people are smart enough to do that. Have you seen the way some people financially plan? Most people could not afford, say, cancer treatment by themselves, no matter what.

Just like the disease scurvy was just a simple deficiency in vitamin C but the experts were baffled for hundreds of years even though the solution was already known by many people.
