Never heard of OpenWRT before, is it nice?
Linux based embedded router OS. Yes, it's nice.
Yeah, it's time for windows to die. My windows 10 computer i'm pretty sure everything on it would work on linux, so i'll switch it over to Mint in a few weeks.
I installed Pop OS on some old hardware "just to see what it's like" 2 weeks ago and am already planning to switch my primary over by this weekend. If I can be done with Windows, I'll be a happy man.
I installed Pop OS on my ten year old laptop two days ago. I'm not sure it's my forever distro, but it's running fine now that I got the right nvidia driver set up. In any case, now that I've gone through the process, I feel a lot more confident that I can build a Linux desktop instead of buying a PS6 in a few years. I'll probably go AMD to simplify the setup.
A lot of stuff does run.
The only Thing that I do Miss, is Anti-Cheat Software for some games. Thats the only reason to keel dualboot, to Launch that Games on Windows. Besides that - screw Windows.
My method has always been the same, it it always works eventually.
When my devices go against my will, I lean real close and whisper "I'm gonna fucking disconnect you and then throw you in a river" and usually after a few hours of threats I get what I want. I guess the debugging and manual reading and whatnot does help a bit, but I suspect it is mostly the fear that fixes the issues.
Oh so you're the one behind all the electronics waste in my local river?
Please throw it in the bin or install linux on it from now on
As soon as Windows is installed, Microsoft owns the computer.
It want from “My Computer” to “This PC”.
What do computers and air conditioning have in common? Both stop working when you open windows.
they've got all the telemetry to infer what you're doing and what your screen looks like
But for some reason, they still need to screenshot dudes fucking up excel spreadsheets and lowballing people on Facebook marketplace for 8 hours
Don’t forget about the porn. Then they can blackmail politicians to pass laws that force more people to use their shit.
As a millenial, I never understood this. Back when we were having LAN parties, we always shared our porn, so I know what pretty much everyone I care about tosses their salad to and they do know what I get off on as well. I'm impervious to that sort of blackmail, it's like a superpower.
Reminds me of when Ted Cruz twitter liked incest porn on 9/11 memorial day
Proprietary bios could be spying on you when you connect to the internet. It might be time for Libreboot 🦌
I doubt their telemetry (if enabled) is good enough for targeted ads. Recall can give them a massive amount of information from your entire screen, it's a massive improvement for them.
I wonder if I can get them to delete of the shit they took from my fucking comp already? I moved to Linux mint a short while ago and despite some minor limitations, I haven't looked back since.
Watch Redditors defend the Microsoft corpo…
DO NOT fire at those vintage Macs. They are not responsible for this.
Oh no, this picture is from 1998, those Macs were new. That woman was rocking the Agent Scully look for a reason.
Maybe they are, in a way.
"New"
I could swear it has been happening in window's temporary folders for like 3 years now.
It is somewhat ironic they're showing a Mac in that shot… did Office even run on them at that stage of the game.
I was hoping nobody would notice they were macs when I made this because the image was too funny not to use...
Nooo! Skully!
I'm forced to use Web Outlook at work now. Can't save shit locally, no, it HAS to go through OneDrive. Fucking hell.
Now I'm thirsting for Jodie Foster with black rifle deepfakes
Microsoft runs the best viral marketing for Linux.
new gnome app called ai central which is just a big white window that says "what do you think this is.. microsoft?"
Hell yea
If only there was some sort of movement of gracious people willing to donate their expertise and time to write software and allow the users to fully control it by giving away the source code. That'd fix everything!
But... but... then you'd have to think about what you're doing and gasp develop a basic understanding of the technology that runs your life! Who has time for that nerd shit?
To be fair, some people are burnt out to degrees most of humanity struggles to comprehend. Of course, there are always the lazy butts; HOWEVER, you cannot generalize at all.
Not everyone has that aptitude. It isn’t always a matter of motivation.
I'm assuming from this smug nonsense that you'd be able to fix your car if anything went wrong, right? What about if something structurally went wrong in your home? If you don't understand how an MRI machine works you better not get medical care!
What an absolutely brain dead take on what people should and shouldn't be doing with their time.
If only my work would listen to you
(We make Windows-only software so a transition to Linux any time soon ain’t happening)
You have my sincere condolences, buddy.
People doing things with their time and expertise without a profit motivation is Communism!

But how would they make money?!
