That ground looks so satisfying to dig in. Like it would actually yield to a shovel. I've spent my entire life in Southern California and our ground is hard, dry, and filled with rocks.
- Where I live the ground is rocks with the gaps between filled with dried clay. Literally a 2 to 1 ratio of rock to clay in some spots. Closer to a soft concrete than actual soil once you get more than 6 inches down. So the shovel doesn't actually dig as much as it just scoops out the shit I beat loose with a tamper bar.
  Sometimes I feel like the only guy on the Internet who sees these digging posts and thinks "I've dug enough" lol.
- Pro tip: water before you dig. Water the ground for a week or so before you dig, this makes it much easier to dig through, and cuts down on the excess dust.
