Brendan Eich said something similar in a JSConf talk or something 5-10 years ago as a way of summarising what had changed in the web during his time: Google is the new Microsoft, Microsoft is the new Google and Apple are the same.
34Yeah I was a pretty hardcore Android “because I want choice” fanboy but Apple won my wallet over because they SEEMINGLY give two shits about privacy. Idk if it’s just a dog and pony show but it’s better than Google’s bullshit these days.
5The way I see it is that Apple doesn’t need to sell your data for them to make money so they realise it’s a point of difference and advertise/commit to it as such.
It’ll last as long as it makes them money.
Although to be honest Apple has incredibly detailed data on how people use their devices so, not exactly the bastion of privacy, even if they keep that info to themselves.

2Edge and chatgpt are not Microsoft product, they are Google and openai. Vs code as well is 80% a Google product. The only part of github that are responsibility of MS is co-pilot, which is the shadiest of the whole thing.

2What are you talking about? Vscode isn't a google product just because it's an electron app that uses chromium. Github is owned by MS so everything they do is by definition the responsibility of MS.
7Github was bought as is, Microsoft contribution since take over is minimal. Vs code is a complex web app on top of chromium, that is the bulk of what delivered in vscode package, and which is made by Google.
Just this, Microsoft is cleaning its reputation mainly using other people work, and vs code...
