Isn't allowing the porn industry to be able to use your hardware crucial for widespread adoption? Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the fact that Betamax and HDDVD did this was one of the factors for their loss of market share?

- There's an excellent video by technology connections in which he mentions this. Turns out, sort of not true. That said, in the modern day, that 100% is gonna be the case, IMHO. Porn flows like wine anymore, and people aren't going to want to adopt some weird pornless tech.

Im so confused why this wouldn’t work and I didn’t see anywhere in the article the actual reason. Can anyone explain it better? Can you not just play a vr video file? Is it blocking the sites? I’m just confused.

- My understanding is that it allows you to play planar video from a website, but not (yet?) side-loaded videos that are spherical/hemispherical. And the latter is what these people really wanted for this application.

It works, you just have to adjust a few settings.

Apps > Safari > advanced > features flags

And you need to turn these 3 things on WebXR Device API, WebXR Augmented Reality Module, and WebXR Gamepads Module.

Well that's shit. Even my OG Rift can do that.

Pretty sure there's an open standard for VR as well (WebXR), Chrome supports it but Firefox doesn't.

- Lots of smartphones can do VR video too, when you add a set of VR goggles that fit it. Just plain goggles with no electronics that hold the phone in front of lenses that you can strap on your face. It's simple enough that it should be possible on any VR display system actually.

  Well I wouldn't know, but my friend tells me that if you go to https://vr.stripchat.com/ , put on your headset, click the big Enter VR button and then click allow, then you will be connected to a bunch of ladies who definitely are not Russian despite all being quite Russian, but also do not care much for wearing clothes.
