I tend to use Facebook on a web browser so I can use ad blockers to control the experience. Yeah, I know… but Facebook is how I stay in touch with extended family. Anyway, I noticed this afte…
At this point, I have a very simple policy: the ad blocker stays on. To me, the headline is equivalent to "Facebook decided to start breaking their website"
Agreed. I used to disable it for some sites but honestly it is just not worth the effort since you never know which malware some ad network is going to serve and you need so many addons now to work around all the crap the tracking industry does that disabling it just isn't feasible any more. If the ad based financing model dies because of it then so be it. The advertising industry is meanwhile literally ruining our society, our environment, our political system, our health and many other aspects of our lives so they deserve anything they get.
Same. I sometimes miss some form of connection, and the fact that Facebook exists makes it so much harder for a non-genocide-facilitating / politics-manipulating alternative to replace it.
Ah so it's not just me. I noticed it either last night or this morning and had a feeling that it was because of uBlock. Oh well, that tiny glitch is still a hell of a lot better than having to use that site without it!
Much as I hate ads and use ad blockers where possible, Facebook is the one site that actually manages to serves me ads I’m actually interested in. On no other site do I click on ads, but on FB it happens regularly. Yeah they have all my info and probably sell it, but I have to give it to their ad targeting algorithm.
