Ah, it seems the only place to get it is on F-droid, the open source app "store".
The Endless Sky game is made for PC, but there's a fork that maintains compatibility with android. If you have F-droid, search for it there. If not, you can download the APK file from the F-droid page for Endless Sky.
If this is your first time installing something that isn't on Google Play, then your phone is going to fight back. But it generally should tell you what you need to do before you can install apps from outside the Play app store.
Thanks for asking this. r/frugalgamers and r/patientgamers were two I don't think I had found anything like an equal for previously. Stopped searching to replace everything I had followed over there back in August...
I've been really enjoying Rogue Adventure lately, there's ads but no aggressive monetization. Anything by Kairosoft. Battle Chasers: Nightwar, The Viridian Obelisk. Necromerger has monetization and dollar signs but isn't in your face with it. Honkai Star Rail. Dungeon Defense. Dicey Dungeons. Soda Dungeon 1 and 2. The Burnable Garbage Day. Vampire Survivors. Stardew Valley. OpenTyrian.
I should have also mentioned the Octopath Traveller series - a HD-2D successor to Final Fantasy 1-6, by Square Enix. They're also available on mobile. If you want a hardcore FF-2 successor, then Romancing Saga is for you, also by Square Enix. Then there's a Final Fantasy Adventure successor, aka the Mana Series - I love the Sword of Mana, which is the first game in the series - but unfortunately, that isn't available on mobile, also on mobile phone. And obviously, the HD port of original Final Fantasy 1-6, also available, but I don't think you'll enjoy them that much.
Superborthers sword and sworcery is very good on the phone, better than on PC nad its just a one time purchase, the same with bury me my love, plug and play
