Go for it. I'd love to see the RNC pay all of Trump's fees. Before a dime goes into marketing a single candidate, make sure this paragon of Americanism is protected. Nothing is more important than pouring money into this sinkhole.
I'm in disagreement. I may be naive but I still believe the Republican Party needs to separate itself from Trump.
Sure, I'd love to see the Republican Party crumble; but because the people, independently and democratically, acknowledge its failure to govern and uphold American ideals.
By supporting the party's funding of Trump's legal fees, you're supporting the idea that his court cases are "political persecution". And I mean, aren't we talking about the party of Personal Responsibility?
I think the RNC should be putting money towards a viable alternative. The RNC should be joining the DNC in fighting the MAGA party. Shit, the DNC should be putting out money for a viable alternative right now too. The power and corruption these two committees hold undemocratic and destructive. Which brings me to my soapbox chant for Ranked Choice Voting.
I can't fix what's broken with the Republican party. But I'd be happy to quicken it's demise so that a more sensible conservative party might emerge. I'm not a Democrat by ideology - at least I don't agree with them in all cases, but it feel obligated to oppose the current Republican party at every level.
I like having choices at the ballot box and right now I feel I have none. Excise the tumor so that it can become healthy.
The cons always were MAGA. For as long as I can remember. Sure, they put a nice veneer on it that /mostly/ held, although the ugliness of things would shine through in the words/deeds of Nixon, Raygun, Bush the Lesser, etc. And never mind their unholy rhetoric on their hate radio and Faux.
The Republican Party is full of Republicans. That means they are maga and trying to somehow tease these unicorn "principled conservatives" who aren't primarily just motivated by racism and/or dreams of theocracy out from the con movement is going to be a fool's errand. They are probably 10% or less of the con movement, possibly less. The rest is all racism/white nationalists and/or xtian talibangelical types; i.e., "maga".
Spending money on orange Jesus’ legal expenses instead of elections is a great way to build a wall and have the true believers pay for it. This is the fastest way to disconnect that cult leader and reset the party
Imagine if the justice system worked and he was declared an enemy of the state as attempting to steal the presidency should be a crime against the state.
Paying any legal fees would be considered giving aid to an enemy of the state. Aka, an act of treason
Does it matter that the GOP donors will pay his legal fees? That just means less money to campaign.
Im not sure it should be legal though. I am no longer a democrat so I have nothing on the line, but I'd still be frustrated if Biden was using DNC funds for personal shit
I mean go ahead. Let Trump empty their coffers, so they can't run the next election either. Just sounds like Republicans screwing each other, so I'm all for it.
Well you know there is a way to find that out for sure, a vote of all members. And then we will see him tank not only himself, his children, all the businesses he has touched, But also the RNC!
It always pissed me off that Tammy Faye got her image rehabilitated just because she became an ally for queer people. Don't get me wrong, queer people need as many allies as they can get, but what about everything else? I remember that fucker crying on camera about how terribly her poor, poor husband was being treated.
I mean you can watch the Nightline interview where she starts bawling about her husband's so-called mistreatment. It's on YouTube.
But she said she thought the idea would get broad support among GOP voters who see his legal cases as political persecution.
In addition to the millions he is spending on lawyers, Trump’s legal debts now top half a billion dollars.
That did not stop him last week from publicly calling to remove the RNC’s current leaders and suggest Lara Trump should serve as co-chair.
She told reporters on Wednesday that GOP voters will feel more trust in the RNC by having a Trump family member installed in leadership.
Those causes were electing Trump president in November, growing the Republican majority in the House with “patriots, America first candidates” and winning back control of the Senate, she said.
Lara Trump said if she is made co-chair of the RNC, her loyalty would be to her father-in-law, but she believed the organization would stick to its policy of staying neutral in primary contests, saying, “I don’t know why we would change course on that now.”
