Don't dig into your ear if it itches
A while back there was a post about having an itchy ear.
Well I've been vigorously cleaning my ear after a shower in case it was ear wax build-up.
After doing that Sunday I've been getting blood on the tissue paper. GP said I've perforated my ear drum and I've been prescribed antibiotics.
Bugger.
If your ear itches - get steroid ear drops. I've now got to shower with cotton wool & vaseline in my ear to keep it dry.
Dry and itchy, until it heals.
I'm 40. I'm too old to be this stupid. :(
My Dad always scratched his ears with a car key. Never seemed very wise.

7ReplyDid you also get itchy ears at the age of 27?

Youre never too old to be stupid
14ReplyOh no.
Hope you heal up quickly!
Don't be hard on yourself though - we're all aware of the hazard, but we all do it.
Managing with slightly warmed olive oil when mine itch, but still go in with an earbud from time to time.
6ReplyWell I didn't have an itchy ear until you brought it up
5ReplyYou might have a family of spiders living in there. You don't want to hurt a family do you?
3ReplyI had a dig around in there a few months back and now whenever I get a cold my ear blocks up. It’s like having an earplug in.
2ReplyAdd me to your list of stupids. I have what I think is a blocked duct or follicle on my eye, its swollen & painful so decided it best to douse my eye in my go to cure all - TCP. At this point I'd take a perforated eardrum!
