5ReplyThe dawn redwood or metasequoia glyptostroboides, the only deciduous variety of redwood is super cool and they're so pretty!

I'm pretty sure you can grow them in michigan too - they just won't get very tall.
There's also the "Dawn Redwood", thought extinct and discovered in China in 1940s, that is now planted all over the US.

17ReplyI mean its basically the same environment, and Taxodiaceae were globally distributed not even that long ago. This really shouldn't be too surprising.
