7Act being the operative word. They still know a bit of theft is cheaper than another employee, so they keep the self-checkouts open. If they can lobby for stronger loss prevention abilities in the process even better.
I'm actually surprised they haven't added a fee to using the remaining staffed tills yet.

Also those moments when your just scanning your items like an ordinary person and it seemly randomly starts trying to get you help (hElP iS oN tHe WaY)
1I don't have this issue.. if it ever pops up that the bagging area has an issue, just move the last item you scanned so the weight sensor can readjust. This allows the system to recognize the new weight and clear the bagging area error.
