Apparently some humans are born with two spleens. What evolutionary pressures likely created the trait, and what future pressures could drive second spleens to become more common?
  • All humans start with 2 spleens, they fuse in utero. When this process fails to complete you end up with an accessory spleen or "splenunculus". There is no functional defecit, you can live happily with an accessory spleen.

Toyota Sport Crossover EV made with BYD to launch in 2025
  • I'll concede a reversing camera and a sound system, but for everything else there's your phone. Maybe include bluetooth in the car but that's it tech wise. I feel like I'm already on a slippery slope.

  • I just want a fast dumb awd electric sports hatch. Think WRX but electric.

    No self driving

    No internet connection

    No cameras

    No screens

    Nothing to update

    Analog dials

Simple twist knobs for air con

    Is that really too hard?

Australia rejects proposal to recognise Aboriginal people in constitution
  • We just proved 60% of the country are dumbass racist hicks, we don't need dumbass racist hicks armed with assault rifles. It's bad enough here with the spiders and snakes.

As for the no voting, the US could certainly take a leaf from our book. The republicunts would evaporate overnight if you had mandatory voting with ranked choice and meaningful minor parties.

Is it a bad practice to not tune your guitar as long as it sounds decent?
  • Brand new strings will go out of tune quickly at first before they settle in, you'll need to tune frequently for the first few hours of playing. You won't break them by tuning. After a few months of daily playing the strings will start to sound dull and notes won't ring out for as long after you pick them. I recommend Elixir brand strings, they seem to keep their tone much longer than any of the others I've tried.

  • The thing is, electric motors are so efficient that even hauling the mass of the batteries they are still more efficient than old fashioned internal combustion engines.

How does healthcare work in your country?
  • Better, yes.

If you are wondering why it takes months to see a GP it's because fully 50% of my consults are healthy people with self limiting viral illnesses.

Each one of those appointments makes me unavailable to see someone else who may or may not have offensive vaginal discharge.

If people just got out of the mindset of "my kid has a cold, I need to see a doctor to get checked out" or even worse " I have a cold, I need antibiotics" then maybe I can spend my day treating actual medical problems instead of telling people to go home, have some vitamin C and drink plenty of fluids.

How does healthcare work in your country?
  • If you've recovered from your cold before you can get to a doctor, then you didn't need to see a doctor. It's almost as if humans have some kind of immune system to deal with common viral infections

  • Nothing to do with your individual actions? Really? So there's no difference between someone who works their ass off in school / uni and someone who just fucks around and drops out? I get that the children of the richest 1% can fail successfully, but for the bottom 99% you have to have some substance in order to succeed.
