Senate passes $886 billion defense spending bill with pay raises for troops, Ukraine aid
  • Her money was pocketed by private insurance companies. Blame them, not a poor country that's under attack. US has way more than enough money to feed and house everyone, even if they quadruple the spending on Ukraine.

Israel-Hamas latest: IDF determined despite heavy losses in Gaza; ambassador says two-state solution not possible
  • Hamas doesn't accept good intentions, they want for Israel to cease to exist, that's their main demand. Obviously Israel isn't too happy about it.

It's the same in russia - Ukraine war, russia wants for Ukraine to cease to exist.

Witnesses Say IDF Troops 'Executed' Women and Children in Gaza School
  • Yeah, that's not evidence of anything. It's clearly staged by Hamas, as so many other examples. Israel doesn't go around killing children, Hamas does. They're quite proud of it too, they posted lots of videos of it on tiktok.

Israel-Hamas latest: IDF determined despite heavy losses in Gaza; ambassador says two-state solution not possible
  • Israel proposed a two state system many times, Palestine has always refused it. They don't want to coexist, hence their slogan.

There's not much choice left for Israel, they'll fight until one of them ceases to exist.

  • Who is the witness? Why are random people walking around there? Or was it just another Hamas fighter who made stuff up to make Israel look bad?

A new report sheds light on how advertising is going at Elon Musk's X — and the numbers aren't good
  • He doesn't have money.

Here's a good comparison I've found: let's say you have a company and issue one million shares. You sell just a single one for $1. Now "technically" you own $999,999 worth of shares, even though you actually have one dollar.

His Tesla and SpaceX shares are worth a lot, but they're not cash. If he started selling huge amounts, then the value would drop rapidly.

What's an amusing thing to say before going under general anesthesia?
  • I could feel that I was going out as I counted. It felt as if I slowly lifted an inch above the operating table and rested on a fluffy white cloud. I could feel them inserting catheter and needles but it didn't hurt even a bit, if anything it tickled. Last sight was the grumpy face of this fridge-sized bald anesthesiologist.

Woke up a second later in Intensive Care unit, surprisingly well rested.

By the way, there was no tube in my mouth. They just put a mask on and it smelled sweet.

  • There is no perfect system, textbook wonderland communism has lots of flaws too. In my ideal world it should be a mix of everything. Communal gardens or hobby workshops are great, communal workplaces not so much. I mean, people should be allowed to get rich if they can do it without abusing others. You should be able to start and grow your company, and get paid for it accordingly.

    Human rights are edgy now
  • Moderates could and do live side by side without issues.

The "issues" are all those extremists. You can't reason with them and they won't stop until they destroy you.

  • Wanting all of that but without the authoritarian bit should be called something else. I'm from a country which was occupied by communists (collective ownership was a thing) and it sucked big time.

  • I understand that they might be comfy to a few people, but for most they're total shit. Also not that expensive, since a proper quality office chairs cost over 1k.
