Quit Windows Fun Now
  • I've tried that far too many times with both W10 and W11. Microsoft always finds a way to re-bloat. I'm pretty sure they have a team dedicated to making sure you get a bunch of bullshit bloat, and to find work arounds to however you removed it.

Way less painful to start over with LTSC and then forget about keeping on top of bloat, AI, and telemetry.

    Quit Windows Fun Now
  • Im here to spread the good word for those who need/want to still use Windows, look up W11 IoT Enterprise LTSC.

Things it doesn't have: Recall, copilot, ads, cortana, TPM requirement, secure boot requirement, ms store, XBOX and gaming services.

Once it's freshly installed, it's like a fresh XP install, naked. Can even group policy to turn off all telemetry. It's fantastic for gaming.

Since they refuse to license it to just anyone, check out massgravedotdev.

    Pihole on gateway device?
  • Not sure if it's exactly what you're after, but Unifi gateways can install NextDNS with a script provided by NextDNS. It's all the same lists as Pi-Hole, and possibly more intelligent ones, too. Bonus points are it makes every device in your home use encrypted DNS, as well!

I'm using it on a Dream Machine Pro, and the new Cloud Gateway Ultra.

[GmanLives] Space Marine 2 Is Really Good And You Should Play It
  • It's combat so far has been 50/50 me.

Sometimes everything works smoothly and it's incredibly satisfying to mop the floor with 100s of xenos. It makes me cackle like a maniac and RP out loud as Titus.

Other moments it's just pure clunky-slow feeling and completely tilting. Like you're hack and slashing your heart out, and its giving you the cues for dodge or parry/block, but you're already way too deep into queued up combos, so spamming C or space to react to them does nothing. So you just get stun locked non stop until you can finally roll away, likely being nearly 1 HP. Then you have to scramble to hope there's Xenos in execute range to fill back armor.

Like it tries to make itself a precise timing reaction style combat game, but then made it's combat clunky and slow since you're a hulking space marine, so it's never consistent if you can actually do precise timings?!

Also, wtf is making me turn green?! It's infuriating for an enemy to do what I assume is poison me, and then everything is green and muffled for what feels like minutes, and I can't see shit to find and shoot whatever it was that made me green!

GORGEOUS game, and man does it run smoothly without any problems on my 5800X3D and 6800 XT. Incredibly immersive!

Linkin Park - The Emptiness Machine (Official Music Video)
  • This has me excited for a full album with the new girl! This song feels like it walks a fine line of a new LP style and sound, while still being the old familiar LP sound.

    Where to get ProtonMail
  • Just a heads up, if you have a modern smart phone, Fdroid Basic is the latest and greatest official F-Droid app. The non-basic one is for older devices, now. It has to do with internally being able to use Android's newest targetsdk version.

    Is Linux (dumb)user friendly yet?
  • If you decide yes, I highly recommend Fedora Silverblue, or any of the distros based on silverblue/ublue. I myself love Bazzite for gaming.

Those are atomic and immutable, meaning you cannot easily break core files, and every single thing can be updated in the app store. It's the windows equivalent of not being able to modify/delete C:\Windows; and getting firmware, drivers, applications, and Windows updates all in one click using the Microsoft Store.

PCGamer: "Deadlock has guns, but that doesn't make it a shooter" [lemmy room: !deadlock@sopuli.xyz ]
  • I only had to skim the article to see this guy is clueless about Deadlocks gameplay lmao. He probably played 5 matches at most and then wrote this. He didn't even play enough to realize there's 3 item types, and 1 of them is literally gun buffs. Being good at aiming is how you can bully your lane to steal their souls ($), and some heroes kits are completely based on gun damage.

Source: I've been playing Deadlock for probably ~3 months now.

Hunt: Showdown's Steam reviews take a battering after the colossal 1896 update brings dreary UI and stuttering to the gothic PvPvE shooter
  • On W11, every time I get shot, my game freezes and stutters for about 0.5 second. Unplayable until fixed. A friend I play with has his FPS tank into the ~30s at the worst possible times, and then the mouse and crosshair feel disconnected, so also unplayable for him. We both have up to date everything.
