He isn't socially conservative, and he gets along well with Liberals (Chrystia Freeland is a close friend, for example)

Ford is one of the personae most non grata among the Maple MAGA crowd, so that's (thankfully) a hard no. A more likely scenario I think is a split back into Reform and PC, with PCs peeling off a lot of Bloc support in QC as well as CPC support in ON and Atlantic and becoming viable that way.

I suppose it's all relative, but in many cases being able to survive one missed paycheque could mean simply having $1k in the bank. Surviving several months is another story.

I realize I'm not answering your question at all, but if you're "moving to Linux for good", how about taking the whole SSD for Linux and keeping Windows in a VM for the rare times you need it?

Mainstreet were an outlier and "won" only because their overweighting of conservatives happened to coincide with the vote-splitting that happened in BC and ON between Liberal and NDP.
