That Germany gave rise to Fascism. It was "invented" by Benito Mussolini based on a hodgepodge of preexisting concepts and named after the fasces carried by Roman lictors, the bodyguards who accompanied high officials. Benny wanted to recreate the Roman empire so he drew a lot of inspiration from it; it's why the fascist aesthetic is so classicaly-inspired with a dash of Italian futurism, which was also in vogue at the time.

Poor Mussolini doesn't get the respect he deserves. First he failed at being a leftist, then failed at journalism, and finally the one thing he actually did that had any impact on the world is usurped by some random Austrian artist.
