Steam users have spent $19 billion on games they have never played.
  • I have absolutely bought games and played them for less than 2 hours and never played them again. I'm a lot more discriminating now, but as recently as last month I bought a game because I thought I would like it. I played a couple of times but can't get into it. I would love to have a new, fun MMO to play but there are so many that look interesting and then... bleh.

'Who lives in a house like this?'
  • Depends on how much land comes with the house. I would renovate the hell out of the house though. But if the framework is in decent shape and it's in a good location it could be made to look very nice.

how are some people able to fall asleep anywheres?
  • I'm always tired. I don't go to bed at a decent hour, my joints ache all the time, so I rarely sleep more than 90 minutes without waking up. I could go to sleep right now if my 8 year old wasn't making a ruckus.

Discord to start showing ads in the coming week after resisting for almost a decade
  • I only use it to play games with 4 other people regularly and another 2-3 people sporadically. When it becomes a pain to use, well move on just like we did with AOL Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, Team Speak, and however many others we've used in the past. Something else will come along. It works great for now, but we aren't loyal to it. We're loyal to playing online with each other. I would honestly pay $5 a month for a decent program, should no free one be available, but I'm already cutting out multiple streaming services, satellite radio, and all sorts of other shit because commercials are too annoying.

A former US surgeon general says he went to the ER for dehydration and ended up with a $5,000 bill. He called the healthcare system 'broken.'
  • On February 14 I met my max out of pocket for the year. I had an upper and lower GI taken which is the bulk of the cost. My insurance is already refusing to cover some of my diabetes medication, because some people use it to lose weight (Mounjaro). I need it to keep my A1C levels under 10. I already weigh the ideal weight for my height. Because it's so expensive and insurance doesn't cover it, I will end up going without for the rest of the year. My old insurance covered it, but my company switched insurance in January. New insurance has never equaled better insurance. I'm so tired of insurance being tied to my job.

Those of you who are not okay: What's going on in your life right now and how could we help you make it better?
  • Getting divorced at 57. Only married 8 years, but separated for almost 3 now. I hate online dating. I worry about being creepy when I see someone I'm attracted to. I can't bring myself to hit on anyone I work with, especially since I'm only attracted to women far younger than me (30s and early 40s). I guess I'm alone from here out, with my only physical contact coming from the occasional massage parlor.

The threat of respiratory illnesses is underway, CDC director says, and hospitalizations are on the rise
  • I had never heard of RSV until my dad (80) was recently diagnosed. It's a nasty illness and highly contagious. He can barely breath, but is getting better. He carries oxygen with him now to keep his oxygen levels up.

  • It's about 25 years old. It's only 1300 square feet with a perfectly flat yard. Perfect for me and my dog... and my son on those weekends where I get to have him with me.

  • I bought a house. It's not my first house, it's my fourth, but it's my favorite by far. It's smaller than any of them, it cost more, but it met all my criteria.
