Ah, same. My parents were neurodivergent and very blunt with life lessons, too. Neurotypicals have that kind of "beat around the bush" "don't say the quiet part out loud" "guide them to water" type of attitude I think.
The objective of Grimm fables is not to make kids feel good, nor to scare them, really. It's to prepare them for the real world.
Red Riding Hood is not a story about kids being eaten by wolves. It's a story about teaching kids that there are adults in the world who want to harm them. Adults who will make themselves appear non-threatening in order to lure those kids into harm.
What OOP implies here is that by removing elements of children's stories that make us uncomfortable is exactly working against the morals and purpose of those stories.
Hey, this isn't what you're looking for, like, at all, but I just built the coziest movie set up by buying a $50 15in CRT, a $20 VCR player, and 50 VHS' for $10. Put it all next to my bed with retro consoles to boot, and the best part is not only are all the ads nostalgic and crammed into the beginning of the movie, but no live service is going to make my tapes move to a new subscription service.
Just... Curl up in bed and put in a movie that you own. Oops, forgot to rewind. Lemme play a round of starfox while I wait.
A vote of no confidence called by the citizenry, enshrined into law, that enables the unilateral disbarment of any elected and appointed official, on top of direct oversight watchdog committees requiring audit transparency for citizen journalists.
With teeth. Non-compliance means a series of escalating responses up to and beyond the dissolution of the organization, redistributing financial assets, personel, and intelectual property to either federal orgs or smaller companies. NPR, PBS, etc.
It truly sounds to me like you guys just need to find a better word at this point. Communism has turned into the USSR, PRNK, and the CCP. You cannot worship this thing and muddy the waters by upholding truly abhorrent examples of the thing you claim is and is not communism.
Any and every single party system, including fascism, communism, and monarchy, are oppressive. Full stop.
This is why they openly discuss the event and all the nuances that lead up to it. After all, it would only be guilt and shame that could cause an entire nation, as a matter of procedure, to deny that the events that day ever took place.
My thoughts exactly. I mean, you could reject a case, I suppose, but it seems that all those "what it takes to be a good lawyer" stories have the hero defending an indefensible monster meerly because everyone deserves a solid defense. i.e. that tom hanks movie about him defending a Soviet spy.
It's time to start killing for what we believe in. Let them fear us to bring lasting change. The dominoes have already fallen and we are in a state of civil war where only one side is choosing not to fight for fear of escalation and it's leaving us trod underfoot. Death is the solution.
Silly citizen, it's not about what terrorizes YOU.
