Looking for free or cheap Scribe alternative

Hi there. I'm looking for something like Scribe but preferably free or a onetime payment that wont break the bank.

My main focus here is the ability to capture the desktop and desktop apps rather than just the browser

ZimaBoard vs Mini/Tiny PC

In relation to my previous post I would like some insight of the heat and noise generated by mini/tiny PCs.

My main concern is noise as the system will be chugged in a drawer in my bedroom. As the previous post mentioned I have a budget of ~180$. Are these systems noisy? I first looked at the ZimaBoard as it is passively cooled but in terms of raw power it's come to my attention that it is overpriced compared to the CPU it comes with.

There is also the Misses factor. She will kill me for installing something that generates more or equal noise to those cheap electric fans people generally buy in the summer when the heat gets too much lol

So to sum up. Is there any option that is nearly completely silent and won't feel like dragging a boulder up a mountain in terms of speed?

Raspberry/Orange Pi or ZimaBoard?
  • I have a high priority of the unit I choose to go with not emitting a ton of noise where the passive cooling for the ZimaBoard is perfect for that. I see the reasons for people mentioning Mini PCs tho I'm hesitant as the whirling may be too much to have stored in the bedroom as I also have no other place to hide it

  • Raspberry/Orange Pi or ZimaBoard?

Hi there. I've been looking to get something to run locally as I currently use a dedi machine I'm renting from Hetzner.

I've been looking at Raspberry Pi, mainly model 4 and while research those I got introduced to Orange Pi as well as ZimaBoard.

I realized the "best" option usually comes down to personal needs, tho I'm curious to which would be the better purchase in terms of "bang for your buck".

The main stuff I would be running are Plex or Jellyfin servers as well as NextCloud for family photos and a shared calendar. I love tinkering so I like the idea of having enough resources to run additional services without going down on efficiency.

    My budget is around 180-200$.

I've seen posts where people often mention a mini PC or similar would be a great option tho I'm looking for something smaller and the less noise the better as I may end up showing the thing in a drawer or closet in my bedroom.

    Which Helpdesk/Ticketing-System do you prefer?

Hi there. I'm currently looking into setting up a helpdesk website and was first introduced to Peppermint and UV-Desk.

I've been looking into Otobo Trudesk and Zammad as well. Just looking at these three over Peppermint and UV-Desk, I think I'll end up going with one of those.

Do you have any opinions on these or is there a third option you prefer?
