Drop your most "wtf that's not how the world works" from movies/tv shows.
  • So potentially a life sentence in a mental facility. That's far better than life in a federal prison. Glad the authorities had the sense to not just throw this kid in the slammer.

  • There's only one example I can think of where this isnt the case. I don't remember the whole story but I saw a YT video about this kid who got arrested for hacking Rockstar games. He ended up getting arrested and while in federal custody in some hotel room, he successfully hacked them again with a fucking amazon fire stick. After that he told the judge that we had no intention of stopping. Being under the age of 18, I don't think he really had any harsh consequences but good for him, that legend.

Edit: so he was 18 during the second hack. And GOT A LIFE FUCKING SENTENCE?!?!?!

Ubisoft CEO Insists XDefiant's Strategy is 'Core' Amid Plummeting Financial Performance.
  • Its also free to not play XDefiant. I've been not playing XDefiant since the beta. It's been fun not watching this game turn out to be whatever the fuck it is now.

No Man's Sky dev pulls out all the stops to fix a player's buggy save with 611 hours of playtime at risk: 'I promise to hawk that bug and fix it'
  • Even Nintendo did it with a Zelda and another time for Metroid. I dont specifically remamber which ones tho. Players would get soft locked out of progression and you could send it in and they'd fix it. That was many moons ago tho. No way they'd put that much effort into anything these days.

Have you ever purchased the full-sized version of a free sample you received?
  • Granted this isnt a "Purchase," but I married my wife. After that first sample, I was hooked and knew I wanted the whole woman forever. 6 years later, I got my best friend and gal of my dreams everyday.

  • Still not as fun as spin up/spin down quarks. Are they spinning? Not at all. And Charm quarks. What the hell does that even mean, science nerds? We also have the strange quark... aren't they all really strange or have you just completely given up?

18 years for woman who hoped to destroy Baltimore power grid and spark a race war
  • Idk, man. There's a ton of deranged supremacists in federal prison and I'd imagine she'd be welcome within their ranks with open arms given the gravity of the conviction and previous charges. As much as I'd also like these people to have a really poor time in prison, even by the already shitty prison standards, the best we could expect for the public is just to keep these slugs away from any and all people and resources they could use to do this again. Our county is in a desperately poor state.

    Edit: typos

Steam has now reached 38 million concurrent users
  • It's still crazy to me that this is the same program I used to browse CS zombie mod servers. There was no real store to speak of then.

where did you know about lemmy and why did you start using it
  • I did exactly the same. I found lemmy through a reddit post about alternatives to Reddit. And after 13 years as a daily reddit user, once RIF went down, I haven't gone back.

I do wish we'd get more traffic with the science communities but I've still noticed slow and steady growth since then.

    Coke rule
  • This may sounds nuts but i have a simple formula I like to follow. A Coke with no ice but still cold or a Pepsi with ice. A Pepsi without ice or a coke with ice tastes different.
