  • I wouldn't discount the possibility of adhd. In my personal experience, I know I had issues with this at one point in my life and I don't have ADHD. Sitting up front helped. Taking notes. Doodling while listening actually helps me focus too. I have to do this during boring ass business meetings. Getting enough sleep is also a big one! Nothing will help if I'm tired as hell. Also consider getting a voice recorder and recording the lecture so you can go back to parts you spaced out on later.

My third and fourth year of college were also tough mentally. I was suffering some serious burn out at times and I couldn't stay on task. What helped was telling myself "k, 10 or 15 minutes of work then I'll take a break." I'd take a break and do it again. Yeah it took longer, but it got done.

  • That "ideal" life has changed and is no longer the norm. Trying to live up to some bullshit idea that we think society says we should live is a trap.

Don't compare yourself or life to others or expect anybody's approval. Everyone has their own journey and idea of happiness. Figure out what yours is and live it.

Kilo has been on the air for 50 years and hasn't sold out to a corporation like iheart or some crap. They've always been an awesome hard rock station. They used to pipe in a morning show which was pretty awesome. They're good for requests. They have a "crank it or cram it" segment at night where the listeners decide if they should keep a song or never play it again. They have always been awesome and they were the only station I would listen to when I would commute to work. Every other station would just play the same 10 songs over and over. I hope they stick around for another 50.

They also have an app through the Play store.

  • As a kid we went camping near a reservoir and it rained real hard through a couple of nights. One of those nights there was some serious lightning. The loudest lightning crack I ever heard scared the shit out of me and woke everyone in the tent up, but we all stayed quiet. I was terrified. It had to of hit the ground relatively close. I thought it was going to hit again and get us. Thankfully it calmed down after that strike and sometime later I fell back to sleep.
