So is most of my "nerd voice" bad response. It just isn't for everyone, or very accessible to the majority of people. Only if you specialize in, or work a lot with, operating system security/privacy is it viable. I hope it becomes more accessible. Troubleshooting fuckin sucks.

Ubuntu is relatively closed/restricted compared to some other Linux distros. Its reliance on Snaps is concerning because its a closed ecosystem (open source client, closed source backend, no option to add other source repos).

Self hosting has the advantage of keeping your encrypted vault local and under your control.
Cromite is a good brave alternative without crypto, built-in adblocking, secure defaults (better security hardening), and cross-platform (Linux, Windows, Android). Best experience is on Android. Cromite is an actively updated fork of Bromite, released by a former contributor of Bromite. Cromite also comes without any proprietary libraries on Android (unlike Brave, Mulch, or Vanadium).
You can install uBlock origin lite and the adblock plus engine is segregated by cromite
Vanadium does not provide adblocking/content-block, comes with proprietary dependencies, and provides no fingerprinting protection.
Betterfox isnt more private/secure than Arkenfox. Betterfox is actually softer in its security and privacy approach. Its goal is to cause the least site breakage, which means more data leakage and softer defaults. Not a bad thing, just not true about Betterfox.
Use Mull (made by the DivestOS developer) on mobile. It is available through the dev's f-droid repo. It is hardened Firefox mobile similar to Librewolf and supports sync because it is a Firefox mobile fork. It is also fully open source and doesnt come with proprietary dependencies (unlike standard Firefox mobile)

Self-boting is against ToS. You have to be careful when interacting with the Discord API. Maybe there is a way to run the discord website to fetch text messages.

It seems like an awesome project that fulfills a lot of the requirements for bridging many popular messaging platforms (like FB messenger, WhatsApp, discord, signal, and more). I wanted to share because I know a lot of us have friends and family who still use antiquated/proprietary communication platforms. Fair warning, I have not tried self hosting it myself yet since my server is kinda of a mess right now. Lmk what y'all think.
Are y'all actually torrenting Linux ISOs. Cus I recommend. Its way faster and fun to have a collection of like 30 distros and try and new branch of the larger Linux tree. I just assume its a joke but I only started torrenting Linux ISO because of seeing it replied so much lol.

Hi, as the title says I am looking for meme communities that share memes. My problem with lemmy (or reddits) main meme communites is that the memes are boring normal shit instead of gay boring normal shit. Mostly kidding but main meme subs are just bland and or basic observations about the world.
