What is the first graphics card you got?
  • Nvidia Riva TNT, because the onboard graphics were only going to play EverQuest (beta) and Rogue Squadron like a painful slideshow, if at all.

When people vote third party do they ever get tired of the crowds of people cheering and the thunderous applause they receive after leaving the voting booth?
  • If you're doing more than just voting and forgetting, then the message wasn't about you. I won't stop asking people what else they've done, because how else is awareness of the need of democracy and public involvement supposed to be spread?

"It's going to be fun to play this game again!" [Azul Crescent's silly scribbles]
  • If I ever run across an arcade I will first search out for a Galaga to play. Usually is one, which says something. No, I'm not as good as I used to be, but it's okay. I can lose even a few levels in of brief play and still feel I had fun.

Iowa Poll: Kamala Harris leapfrogs Donald Trump to take lead near Election Day. Here's how
  • Vote anyway if anyone hasn't yet. Because no matter if it's close, a few points, or a sweep Trump is already planning on calling it rigged (he already has) and rallying his supporters to do who knows what. It's going to be a long few months, maybe more.

Also, don't forget that voting just gets a preferred candidate into office, you still have to remind and pressure them on topics you feel important, regularly. I think this is really where America fails as a representative democracy, most people don't follow up on what they were all hyped up about during an election.

Greta Thunberg Says Trump 'More Dangerous' But Blasts Harris On Gaza
  • There's always been a polarity even at the start. Smaller one issue groups would end up merging with one of the major ones. It has gotten far worse though, ironically in the age of information where people should be able to discuss and learn about topics better. I think we broke something.

Greta Thunberg Says Trump 'More Dangerous' But Blasts Harris On Gaza
  • Wow, Greta uses her recognition to point out the whole thing is a mess and there's no great choices, and more importantly it's up to people to not quit after their vote and actively and continuously push for change...

And already there's posters making fun of her. Maybe they just read the headline and not the full text...as per internet tradition.

    Satolingo
  • Handwaving tech and physics is easy. I'm not touching linguistics, other than to say I don't think you can explain it away. Languages are hard, even if by some magic all species everywhere have some common base, which I doubt.

Supreme Court rejects Republican bid to block provisional ballots in Pennsylvania
  • It's unAmerican to not want everyone to have their chance to vote. Another example of how the Republican party hates people in general. It gets in their way of power.

Fox News attack on Tim Walz for helping struggling student instantly backfires
  • It backfired in that it called attention to something positive he did that Fox News tried to spin into a negative. How much it will change things probably isn't a lot, but at least we can see two sides, Fox News and reality. Maybe others will see it too with the right story and lie exposed.

Tucker Carlson claims he was mauled by a demon while asleep, leaving claw marks
  • I watched that video, and had he just stuck to being suddenly awake and having claw marks I would have thought there was something odd. But he led with having four dogs in the bed, so when he said he had claw marks...dear lord, he's either trying too hard to play to some niche audience, or he's really that stupid. At least make the story sound plausible...we know you can lie, why didn't you just leave off some details here to sell it better.

TIL about Greg Hildebrandt, who sadly passed away yesterday. He, and his brother Tim, were responsible for an image that takes so many of us instantly back to our childhoods.
  • I still have my poster after seeing the first movie opening week. It worked for that movie since it was a new step for fantasy scifi. Once the characters became known and the franchise took off, realistic artwork made more sense.

Didn't know about him almost being involved with the animated Lord of the Rings. That would have been a totally different direction than the rotoscoping. Maybe better? Who knows.

Also, gone too young. Still had potential work to create. Not cancer this time, something we ought to have a better handle on, diabetes.

  • I have an older robot vacuum that has finally shown some age in its battery. The charger will charge for about 15 mins and then gets an error, but it's enough to do a decent vacuuming of the room if I charge then vacuum, then repeat once more. I can't leave it on the charger now due to the error repeating, so basically I run it dead until the next time.

So my question is, can I continue doing this since it works well enough, or is there potential problems/danger with the battery being at less capacity? I could buy a new battery, they aren't terrible in price, but if it works and is safe, why not continue what I'm doing until it completely gives out?
