I've just been introduced to Taco Bell. What should I be trying?
  • how is it possible that chicken can get people sick

Huh? Poultry is in the news for illness reasons all the time, lettuce comes up often too. Not saying it isn’t for scummy corner cutting reasons, but don’t act like taco bell is somehow the first chain to give someone food poisoning.

Labor Day reminder: Cops aren't workers. Police associations aren't unions.
  • I dunno what fire fighters you’ve met, but the ones I know get paid absolute dick to respond at all hours to about an 80/20 mix of “really stupid people doing really stupid things, often repeatedly” and tragic accidents. Out of all the issues to have with “the big state” the fire department is a weird one.

Every time someone asks me the make and model, I give a puzzled look
  • In a tiny font on the back of the car? Like sure jerk off over your car knowledge but that’s the dumbest way to say “duhhh everyone should know every car make and model” I’ve ever heard

shitty little snowflake has to be special, can't just act normal like everyone else
  • Dude like half the kids at my school didn’t say it. For some reason, I would only ever do it after the 4th of July - I guess I figured they could have a week just not every day?

TIL at the Battle of Peleliu in the Pacific during WW2, of the 8 men awarded the Medal of Honor, 6 of them were for throwing themselves atop grenades to save nearby comrades
  • I can’t exactly say I love the fact that we nuked Japan, but the diameter of the Fat man was about a mile, and google tells me Peleliu is about 20 square miles in size. Would waiting, and glassing an entire island have been a better choice? Loss of native life would still be awful, but magnitudes less than the real bombings.

[Playstation Lifestyle] Star Wars Outlaws PS5 Review: A Great Space Adventure
  • I like star wars , but yeah similar boat. Far Cry 3 was real fun the first time, it’s still fun now but I can wait for the star wars coat of paint at a discount.

Reddit Battles Meta and Google Using Ads Based on Topics — Not Your Data
  • Is it? I know it goes further than this, but the idea of serving ads based off what users are subscribed to feels like one of the least awful ways this could be implemented. The same way your feed is generated, your pool of ads is drawn. It feels wrong to say this, but this doesn’t really bother me.
