I'm a criminal [Rule]
  • If there are out gays who don't face much or any persecution, I would call that a victory for the cause worth celebrating! Remember Alan Turing. Remember Harvey Milk. Both of them were white gays who paid dearly for having the audacity to be themselves. Racism is unbecoming. It's divisive. I think it's important to show solidarity to all humans struggling to be themselves under oppressive systems.

We are at the Wolfenstein stage of capital.
  • Don't police dogs regularly screen for explosives at large events, shipping terminals, bus depots, train stations, and airports?

  • There's definitely an interdependancy there, but don't discount the incredible complexity of some cool civilan tech: James Webb Space Telescope, Mars rovers, ISS, the old Space Shuttle. Even mundane things like ocean-based oil rigs are chock full of amazing engineering.

    Biology rule
  • Exactly. The use of "female" is clinical in that context. It's meant to be sterile, emotionless, professional, and adequately descriptive.

The mask ban shit is unreal.
  • Except one group was clearly attacked and murdered based on unfounded racist fear and nationalism eager for "others" to feed the fascist machine, and the other group willingly chose to abandon critical thinking and defy the recommendations of the medical science community doing its level best to fight a novel and deadly contagion. The Jews were "asked" to wear yellow stars and rounded up because of who they were. That was indefensible. The Communists were rounded up because they were political opponents of the NSDAP. That was indefensible. Modern citizens across the world were required or asked to wear masks, observe a larger personal space bubble, and quarantine for the safety of everyone by governments large and small across the world in an effort to protect everyone from a virus that doesn't know or care about the political leanings of its victims. Individuals willingly defiant of such measures intentionally and recklessly put everyone's health and safety at risk, to deadly effect in some cases. That is indefensible.

EVs Could Last Nearly Forever—If Car Companies Let Them
  • You have a point; some EVs like the Leaf don't even have conditioning. The Volt does have active conditioning, and being a PHEV instead of a BEV has battery charge and discharge limits which were limited by the factory to preserve longevity at the expense of being able to charge to a true 100%. If extra range is needed the ICE is activated instead of stressing the traction battery.
