New York approves the first congestion toll in the US: $15 to enter Manhattan
  • Apologies, I was incorrect. The typical off peak day time schedule spreads out to about 20-30 wait times between rides. I do believe this to be a huge problem. They used to be more frequent.

New York approves the first congestion toll in the US: $15 to enter Manhattan
  • I live around this mess and I have mixed feelings about congestion pricing. I am for a congestion pricing scheme but the revenue should be shared among all transit agencies that travel in and out of NYC. Who the hell wants to travel into the city when PATH trains only come every 15-20 off peak and weekend hours? Why not beef up transit routes FIRST, and then implement the pricing?

The concept is a good idea. The execution is short sided and insular and I don’t see the MTA benefiting from any of this for at least a decade. That’s IF this money actually goes towards public transportation infrastructure.

I see this going the way of the mandatory 911 fee we all pay and then having almost none of that money going towards 911 service.

Does anyone actually use bathroom bluetooth speakers?
  • You’re a better person than me. I would have smashed that Bluetooth speaker the very first morning…. I am, not a morning person…

The ultimate life hack the government doesn't want you to know
  • Not when teens have access to finance 101 classes in high school. It was an elective in my HS and you better believe I took it. I learned how to do my taxes, balance a budget. It was great. I wish this was a hard requirement for all HS students.

But I will agree, teenagers are pretty stupid. but at least I was a knowledgeable stupid teenager.

What are some easy ways that you can improve energy efficiency and be more eco-friendly in your rental apartment?
  • It’s always hard to know what kind of outdoor space you’re working with when it comes to rentals. There are indoor composters like Lomi which can do it indoors but the cost of the unit is out of reach for most. Composting yourself will always attract pests. It’s not fun when those pests make it inside your place. Reach out to local community gardens and see if they have recommendations for composting your food scraps. I’m fortunate enough to have my compost picked up every week. I pay for this privilege and again, I know it’s not affordable for many but I glad I’m able to make the investment. I probably empty my normal trash bag once every 2 weeks.

  • Oh my yes it did! The doubling up the ends didn’t do anything weird to them. The shawl came out more like a scarf but she loves it.

Check it out on my mom!

  • Not sure if I should be doing it this but I don’t really have any other options. If anyone has a better solution I’m all ears 😅

Drug dealers are watching the Chocolate Milk Is Healthy debate very closely
  • Milk is amazingly delicious. It makes a lot of delicious things. It provides a modest amount nutrition.
Milk can be easily swapped out for more sustainable whole foods. The milk industry is horrendous and we shouldn’t be propping it up by way of our public schools.

Where is love for non honey bees?
  • I recently watched a video of a bee keeper showing how his bees were kept save because he fed the wasps fermented pare. So it kept them happy and docile and really showed how some wasps species can co exist and play a part in Mother Nature which we often forget.

But mosquitoes… fuck them, they can all die.

Also, cute ass little bee photo. 🐝

  • Milk should just not be given to children at all in school. I don’t understand why we can’t have kids drink just fucking water. We shouldn’t be encouraging kids to drink sugary anything. Calcium and protein can come from so many other sources. I never understood milk as a lunch drink option as a kid and I don’t understand it now.

  • I was just on the cusp of having enough of a down payment during Covid when that 2020 market crashed in big cities. I didn’t make it and now I definitely won’t be making it anytime soon. Glad you made it though.

Sorry is this has been mentioned before.

I’d love to be able to have my system browser of choice be used while I am still in the app. It’s terribly annoying clicking on a link and leaving Memmy to view it.

As an aside, I love y’all’s app and appreciate you. Keep us posted on when you add your tip jar, eh?

Today was the second time this year I’d thrown out my back. The back muscle spasms are so bad it puts me in entirely different state of mind. It’s due to the amount of brain piercing bursts of pains I experience. Transferring from the floor to the couch almost had me black out. It only takes the slightest move to trigger the spasmed muscle(s). It’s like playing a game of Russian roulette but it’s your body movements. Cool huh?

Do y’all get this too? Why is it so fucking god awful painful? How do you handle your episodes?

You ever realize that you’re scrolling through Memmy and completely lose track of time? 🥲
