[Discussion] Double discussion this month, what games did you buy for your Deck during the Steam Sale, and what are you playing on Deck right now? - July 2024
  • Bought Everspace 2 (but on GOG) and so far it's playing great, even though power consumption is still quite high. But it's great for a session of about 1-2 hours, which I am fine with. Otherwise still playing wandering Village from the last sale and a bit of LotR RtM.

Byron Bay is to be stripped of its nudist beach – and naturists blame ‘conservative creep’
  • Honestly , you are projecting sexuality where there really is none. I have been growing up (except for the teen years, where everything is embarrassing) going to our 'naturalist' (FKK) lakes and beaches every summer, and there newer were such problems.

Far right party Alternative for Germany says membership has grown by 60% to 46,881 since January 2023
  • They already have a presence, and are shaping the politics of Germany indirectly. As our leading conservative party (and our socialdemocatric middle -left party to some extent) makes the same error as in US as trying to cater to those extremist views. Which is frightening as fuck, as more and more fascist views are being adopted and normalized

Derisking a project 1 year out
  • Tru dat. Agile product management is not the same as agile project management. Agile Project Management is about the ability to figure and changes things along the lines of the predetermined cost and time path (e.g. figuring out features required along the way), not about the agility to prolong/shorten product value proposition time to market.

Wayfinder is ditching its free-to-play live-service model to become a paid, co-op RPG without microtransactions
  • Understandable, but why not provide the server application than to the players, so that they can spin up their own? Is certainly better than changing direction completely without compensating the paying customers for it.

  • Just beginning this week, I was wondering what goes on with the game and informed myself from YouTube. If they are now going the full co-op RPG route, how is that any better than the statethey are currently in? If they ditch the online multiplayer part, this game has nothing different to offer than any other games out there.

What games do you use the pads with?
  • Mom's for mouse movement (right) and function buttons via radial menu (left). Works surprisingly well on GW2 and TurtleWoW

The worst thing about Jenkins is that it works
  • What Jenkins is good for, is ensuring a consistent environment with a single purpose. On the contrast, I dislike GitHub, because engineers are repurposing it for every single component separately, so we end up with 20+ workflows which isnt anywhere near maintainable. With the hurdle of Jenkins declarative pipeline coding in the way, at least they make sure, that whatever they add works in the overall context of ci/cd. But yeah, I understand the docker context issue, that's why I don't use that feature explicitly.

I'm a beautiful woman, most men would say "yes" to me but I'll never know until I stop being shy, low self-esteem, awkward, aloof. How to get from "Whoa I'm attracted to him," to sealing the deal?
  • Join a social dancing club. This keeps you stay healthy and also improves your self-esteem. Also it creates this Personal Connection to the other person while dancing. Be advised though - there is also shitty leaders out there, who are purely after that one thing.
