Boeing reaches early deal with 25% higher pay in hope to avert strike
  • I believe those are two separate things. The 4 years being for how long this contract will stand. And the wage increase being immediate change to the pay grade tiers.

But we'll have to see when details are out. I'm only guessing based off other union contracts I've had experience with.

Holocaust revisionism is running through the mainstream of the MAGA movement
  • And in this case it's fine for the author to simplify. Because the specifics of the Holocaust isn't the article focus. It's about current day people denying it happened at all and their political affiliation.

Is it me or is everyone in hexbear insane?
  • Yes. They moved here. Have done the same things. Pissed many people off. Thankfully this time they can be easily contained due to how Lemmy works. They could just grow up and not be an embarrassment to the left. But that's apparently too big an ask.

  • Maybe because you didn't observe it happening. Reddit admins were busy as hell cleaning the place up. All kinds of rightwing subs like some of the incel gathering spots. Some for straight up Nazis like frenworld or whatever it was where they were using honk honk as code for heil Hitler. When the admins made site changes due to complaints about right wing subs, Chapo made the list because they engaged in similar activities with the main complaint being brigading other subs. Their mods refused to change to meet the new rules. The admins eventually removed some of the mods. They still refused to change afterward. Which eventually got them shut down.

  • Hardly, the mods kept refusing to do anything about the brigading of other subs. To the point the admins stepped in and removed a couple of them. Then afterward the sub decided they'd rather go private than comply. At this point most of back and forth is wiped out because the sub is locked. But there was far more going on for a while than their claim that one post shut them down immediately. They had already been in trouble for a couple months.

  • While true there was a lot more behind the decision than that final post. They had been fighting with the admins for a long time.

    Side by Side
  • Not related to that at all.

Cheney hates Trump because of his ties to Russia. For threatening to have the US leave NATO. January 6th. And above all the cardinal GOP sin of attacking fellow party members. Liz has repeatedly been the focus of Trump's outbursts because she's stood up to him. And to a ghoul like Cheney, attacking the in-group is a big no no. Especially his own daughter.

Former Republican Vice President Dick Cheney to vote for Harris, Liz Cheney says
  • X Doubt.

I'd guess something like he hates that Trump and MAGA in general keep getting cozy with Russia. And they've displaced inner circle NeoCon pals along the way.

Rich countries are flooding the developing world with their used gas cars
  • In very small numbers. Car recycling/scrapping is a huge industry in developed nations. One that the big manufacturers support for a couple reasons. Main one being to maintain artificial price flooring. If used cars are expensive and harder to come by, people give in and buy new. The manufacturers knew this. But it didn't occur for them to actively engage in such practices until Cash for Clunkers happened in the US.

Also, low income countries already get their cars from manufacturers people in western nations have never heard of. China, India, and even Iran export new cars to these nations. Options that would be easier to obtain and maintain than something like a 20 year old GM SUV never sold directly in that market.

The author's guess at potential future concerns doesn't seem reflective of reality around car ownership economics. Plus China is already getting new EVs to some of these markets at artificially low costs.

  • There were other things that went down to get them on probation. I can tell you're gladly defending them though. Which is ridiculous so have a nice day.
