Price hikes anticipated for iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models
  • I like getting a new phone every year even though it’s objectively a poor way to spend money.I don’t do it every year because sometimes it seems pointless.

I feel like if the 14 Pro>15 is as small as the 14 was a yoy upgrade and they hike the price seems like a wait it out year.

  • I only got a 14 pro max because the old phone had something wrong with it and when I first saw the Dynamic island I was like eh that’s neat but so what. And when they were talking about live updates people kept coming back to sports scores as what it could do but I don’t really watch much sports so I sort of yawned.

Now that it’s been out for a bit food delivery and running apps have done some nice touches so that I always have quick access to timing information. I’ve wanted them to put Nike Run Club stats on my Lock Screen forever. The other one I love is it tells me how long till my food delivery gets here in Uber.

Anyone else have any apps that this improved quality of life for?

Is the dog still out there?
  • As far as we know from the sbelter she’s just an American short hair, but she does resemble one. Her littermate sister otoh look’s completely different.

We’ve never done the genetic testing thing because well it’s expensive and we don’t really care enough to spend money on it.

Google raising price of YouTube Premium to $13.99 per month
  • I feel like this is the best money in streaming. I mostly watch you tube, and primarily on the tv and phone in the app. Frankly I would prefer to have much more of the internet paid for with you know money instead of ads and not use a blocker.

You tube music also has a much better algorithmic playlist than Apple Music.

What password manager do you use ?
  • The thing is I don’t expect Apple to come out with a family plan. I wish 1Password went back to building native apps, or Apple got better at family sharing.

Why isn’t Apple Music better at predictions
  • The funny thing is I've kind of gone full circle and I'm back to reading more pop criticism. And I kind of suspect if I just said fuck it and bought CDs and ripped them myself Amazon would do better than any of these streaming services. I get pretty okay book recs from them.

  • So Apple Music knows all kinds of data about my listening habits. So like I genuinely don’t understand why when I opened the app this morning it wasn’t like hit ok to stream the new Taylor Swift album. I had to like click around for a second. No big deal In the grand scheme of it.

Like I feel like I have pretty predictable tastes I listen to mostly albums by a small number of song writers in a few styles but for some reason it’s very hit and miss and single driven even if that’s not a match for the way I listen to music. IT’s algorithmic radio isn’t bad but for having 20 years of data it seems pretty mediocre.

I’m not much of a recipe person but I mixed sesame oil with tamari and about 2 Tablespoon peanut butter. Put on some air fried tofu and snap peas and garlic.

‘Never apologize’: How Moms for Liberty teaches its members to spin the media
  • I hate to admit it but from an amoral point of view this seems to be something Trump really showed that shamelessness is a virtue in politics. Never apologize just keep plowing forward with whatever your bullshit is seems to be for the most part the way to go especially on a right-wing group. Left wing groups have to deal with more diversity and you probably can knock some support off that way, whereas RW groups are hurt by the apology more than the outrage.

Respectability politics are absurd on their face
  • I'm genuinely unsure because I wasn't persuaded to try to stop eating meat until someone came along and presented as something good for me in a persuasive way. All the extremists ever did was force me into a corner where I'd strike back out at them and not really give a fuck.

Why all of a sudden tech companies are not being favorable to their users?
  • It doesn’t seem completely crazy to me that it would be better for money to go to successful projects than just be sprayed like a fire hose in hope that you land a Facebook or Google sized moonshot.

Of course it sucks for the people that lose their job, but presumably that money should go towards sustainably growing things where they could work.
