Totally logical and expected functionality
  • As far as I’m aware, all the MacBook Pros with 4 USB C ports, both the 13 and 15/16inch from 2016 until the Apple Silicon ones arrived, were all Thunderbolt certified. I also remember in a few of the teardowns from iFixit that those devices also has one Thunderbolt controller per side.

The only way to avoid Grammarly using your data for AI is to pay for 500 accounts
  • As a Québécois, one piece of software I really like is called Antidote, which does pretty much the same as Grammarly, without the online components, unless you pay for the subscription. It also works in both French and English.

What features would you like to see in your favourite Lemmy app?
  • I’m on iOS, so I don’t have access to Connect. I do however have access to Memmy and Voyager, and those apps get updated daily, especially with TestFlight.

How many communities are you blocking?
  • Yep, I got the same issue with blocking communities. It would be so much simpler to simply block pornlemmy and lemmynsfw than to block the myriad of communities that pop up

Can I say the majority of Lemmy users are anti-capitalist or big corp?
  • I’d say that I’m more anti-corporate, but not completely anti-capitalist. I do agree however that capitalism needs to be better regulated tho.

Opinion - What are your thoughts on password managers? Do you use one? Would you recommend it to others?
  • One of the major dangers and problems I have with passwords saved in a browser is that they are not encrypted, and also the fact that many browsers tend to auto fill login forms, as opposed to a password manager extension, such as Bitwarden, that starts in a locked state with all the data truly encrypted.

Opinion - What are your thoughts on password managers? Do you use one? Would you recommend it to others?
  • I’ve been using passwords manager since a few years, but I switched to Bitwarden around Christmas last year after the data breach from LastPass. It’s so much safer than storing them in the browser or on one service that’s not available elsewhere

Reddit Refugees on Lemmy, how are you guys liking lemmy so far?
  • I kinda miss Reddit, but after browsing it today, it felt kinda weird. Lemmy is starting to feel more and more like home as more people join in and participate. And also the fact that the 0.18 update fixed the numerous issues, it really helps.

    Lemmy.world status update 2023-07-05
  • It now feels pretty good to browse and it now makes the experience of using Lemmy much more enjoyable. Having to spam the vote buttons was really annoying.
