Recommended linux variant for gaming.
  • @GustavoM @simple hmm, interesting. How do I make pacman work on ubuntu? I mean, just because it's technically possible, doesn't mean it's at all easy to do, in any stretch of the imagination

PCSX2 Emulator Disables Wayland Support By Default
  • @brunofin @xan1242 Idk, I use them all the time. And furthermore, emulation needs to be precise and fast, not written in some modern technology, if the need doesn't outway the efforts put into it. Or, maybe I'm mistaken, I may have misunderstood what you mean. So, perhaps you can clarify?

Suggestions for a wireless headset, anyone?
  • @ObviouslyNotBanana @grue it's much better now than when people were using jack incantations and trying to figure a whole host of stuff out, which in most cases was hardware specific and very esoteric, needless to speak of people chasing lowlatency setups, in so many weird directions that afew people actually came up with kernel patches to apparently make the whole thing have 0 xruns. Yeah, absolutely weird, better that this doesn't happen anymore hopefully

Suggestions for a wireless headset, anyone?
  • @Chais do games actually output 5.1 nowadays? Most of those I know use libraries like steamaudio, which simulates it using in-app hrtf, mixing the signal on its own

  • @Chais @n3cr0 how do you replicate that with pipewire anyway? Sure, you can rig up the nodes and all, but are games actually outputting surround nowadays, or how do you benefit from all that work?

    gpu performance test
  • @darkeox @NZV65572 @Oha what is, nvidia or amd? amd does have raytracing, and nvidia has vulkan with proprietary drivers as far as I know, but maybe I'm missing context because my server didn't load all the thread

    Why do you use Linux?
  • @XenoStare @ZariZari this doesn't make us evil, nor does it make valve good, they did it because they didn't want to pay for windows licenses for all the steam decks they produce, simple as that, we're collateral benefit. Not using entirely free software isn't evil. Every moment we accuse one another of not being supporting enough, idealistic enough, etc, gives the monopolies an advantage because we're squabeling pointlessly. This is what the pollitical left wing should understand as well.

    Why do you use Linux?
  • @XenoStare @ZariZari yes, but some convenience is also good. In this case, being able to play windows games, as most of them are released for that platform, on linux without messing a lot with vanilla wine is a godsend. For now, it's about getting people, game studios, etc, to notice us, even if only through the lense of the steamdeck verified badge. It's only temporary I hope, but even if not, philosophi aside for a moment, it's good that we can have more enjoyment than before.

Awesome tool for backing up game saves!
  • @Puzzle_Sluts_4Ever @V0lD personally, I use systemd timers, in combination with the btrfs tooling to backup certain snapshots of my filesystem, which include game saves. I can't use steam because it's entirely screenreader inaccessible, so I play stuff with retroarch and other emulators, plus the occasional audiogame in wine, and very rarely, native ones, those are so rare.

    Nvidia Shield Streaming + Linux?
  • @Tersevs awesome, thanks for the explanation! I wanted something like this for a long while, especially since I usually game in weird places which are far from the computer. Also, I looked on flathub, and both apps are on there, even the server. Why would run the server as a flatpak, I don't know, but I know it's there, so yeah, gonna try this now.

  • @AudraTran @linux\_gaming what was that last thing? an image? if so, can you put alt text on it, I dk what it's supposed to me

@AudraTran @linux\_gaming what was that last thing? an image? if so, can you put alt text on it, I dk what it's supposed to mean. Also, it does work for me, as in, I was able to follow the group and post some comments on specific threads, though unfortunately they appear on the other side with no username, at least none I can see, maybe there's an avatar but it's not labeled

for those of you who are passionate about #linux #gaming, even if on the [#computer](https://linuxrocks.online/tags/com

for those of you who are passionate about #linux #gaming, even if on the #computer or #SteamDeck, be that on #arch, #fedora, #ubuntu or something else, I recommend you subscribe to the lemi sub...what, reddit, thread? dedicated to this: @linux\_gaming Even if you don't make an account on lemi.world or another such instance, you can subscribe to the sub, by putting that handle in your search bar, or clicking it here if you're on mastodon, since lemi is a fediverse platform. I dk if the r/linuxgaming community will be going away soon, but given what's happening with reddit, maybe it won't shut down when the protests are over, if they ever will be, which I hope is not likely.
