  • Piefed is both an instance (piefed.social) and back-end server software that allows anyone to run their own instance (list of various Piefed instances). It works on the same ActivityPub protocol as Lemmy and Kbin/Mbin so they all interoperate with each other.

One of the cool things I like about Piefed is it seems to join the comments of various instances in cross-posts. On Lemmy, you can see its crossposted, but you have to manually check them out to see any comments on others. One cool feature I like over Lemmy. There's a few others, but I'd encourage you to check it out. You don't have to commit if you don't like it.

  • Awesome! Good to know its based off some kind of standardized testing. This is good for everyone!

  • From @fuckwit_mcbumcrumble@lemmy.dbzer0.com on a post over at !android@lemdro.id

Yeah this is just manufacturers self rating themselves. This is just like VW cars rating themselves as getting 5-10mpg better than their competitors, when really they were just measuring from the balls.

The up side is if they fail to meet those ratings then are the consumers entitled to some sort of compensation?

Btw, I love how Piefed shows comments from cross-posts. Every client should do it, helps make the fediverse feel bigger and more diverse.

  • Trump already said he's going to make the farmers "responsible for these people" — Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8QqdLW8K8Jg&list=RDNS8QqdLW8K8Jg&start_radio=1

He even called the farmers "owners".

  • "Sure, Trump said it, but he didn't mean it" and other such phrases that have already bitten people in the ass.

  • CoMaps (unless they've diverged from Organic Maps already) only updates map info once a month. Once a month they "cut" whatever is latest on Open Street Maps (OSM) and update their database. if someone updates OSM today, you may not see it on CoMaps until the monthly update is available.

  • 100% agree, but this logic applies to everyone, not just public figures.

they [public figures] have an extrinsic motivation to make others believe they've changed.

Replace public figures with people and its just as accurate. Nobody wants to be the bad guy, even demon-spawn incarnate, Stephen Miller tries to put everything in a positive light "detaining violent illegals" vs "breaking innocent families apart and sending them to concentration camps".

Judge people based on their actions, not their words.

  • You're exposing your privilege and lack of understanding other perspectives.

Not everyone grew up knowing the impact words or phrases have on marginalized communities. I reflect on the day I learned women think twice about going for a runs at night. Growing up a white-passing guy in a relatively safe neighborhood, the possibility of getting raped was a foreign concept, but a sad reality for many women. In that same vein, you lack the humility to consider people like me, who grow up in an environment where slurs were common and "just a joke".

I've educated myself, learned from my past, reflected on how my actions may have impacted others at the time and walked away from ignorance. I am not who I used to be, and we must allow people to grow, or would you prefer to see no change?

If you grew up perfect, you should feel blessed that you've had the opportunity. Not everyone gets that.

  • great time to help others migrate away from, not just the lemmy.ml community, but anything related to Lemmy, dessalines, yogthos, et al. P

iefed and Kbin/Mbin exis, the voyager app just added support for Piefed. let's not support those who seek to oppress us.

  • some people in here are apparently perfect and don't believe others can grow and learn from their mistakes. what a childish self-centered perspective.

  • I can't recall who said this, but they noted that the purpose of engaging in debate is not necessarily to persuade or educate the opponent, but rather to provide insights for the audience, who may have similar questions and can benefit from the discussion.

  • Being a Satanist while identifying as an atheist is often associated with a specific philosophical stance rather than a belief in a literal Satan or supernatural entities. In this context, Satanism can be seen as a symbolic representation of individualism, self-empowerment, and rebellion against traditional religious norms. Here are some key points to consider:

    • Atheistic Satanism: Many atheistic Satanists do not believe in a literal Satan but use the figure as a symbol of freedom, personal responsibility, and the questioning of authority.
    • Moral Framework: For these individuals, Satanism can serve as a moral compass that emphasizes personal ethics, critical thinking, and the pursuit of knowledge. It often promotes values such as individualism, self-determination, and hedonism, but within a framework that encourages personal responsibility.
    • Philosophical Approach: This form of Satanism is more about philosophy and lifestyle than theology. It focuses on human experience and the material world rather than spiritual or supernatural beliefs.
    • Cultural Critique: Atheistic Satanism can also be a critique of organized religion, particularly Christianity, and may advocate for secularism and the separation of church and state.

In summary, being a Satanist while being an atheist often reflects a philosophical and ethical stance rather than a theological one, emphasizing personal empowerment and a rejection of traditional religious dogma.

TL;DR Atheism simply means you don't believe in a god. It makes no other claims. Satanism encompasses more than that simple perspective.

  • I'm a Satanist. We accept reality as revealed by science.

His response answered your question. Science doesn't believe in Satan, thus he himself doesn't believe Satan exists. For the record, most Satanists don't actually believe in anything "supernatural". Read more about Satanism here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satanism#Contemporary_tendencies_and_groups
