Former patient testifies doctor told her future husband would regret it if she got tubes tied
  • Male doctors make detrimental decisions for women every single day based on their opinions. I've been dealing with it for 40 years, and the result is that I'm now suffering the ill effects - as are thousands of others. It has to stop. I hope this being suddenly newsworthy brings change.

OLED monitor momentum expected to continue — analysts expect 1.34 million units shipped by year end
  • I use dark mode, but I turned on the night light feature and at some point, I think I adjusted the black down so it wasn't so black?

It's so bad that I can't use my phone for more than a few minutes at a time because I can't do anything else after that. My eyes are so blurry I don't feel safe driving.

  • Can someone with more brains than I have explain why my Pixel 7 gives me blurry vision, but my computer monitors and old Samsung do not?

Because if monitors are heading this way, I might have a problem.

Who here's committed to not shop at Loblaws' companies this month (and beyond)?
  • 100% committed to the boycott. Haven't shopped there since it was first suggested. We scan everything to avoid supporting genocide in Gaza as well. I'm old and cranky and just not having it.

Linux users are the vegans of the computer world
  • But for real? Linux is actually so great. I'm running a shitty old PC as a media server and learning Linux as I go. It's so light and nimble compared to a Windows machine. For anyone considering Linux, I highly recommend trying it out even if it's just for funsies.

Fstoppers on YouTube: Printer Ink, It's a SCAM
  • I have an Eco Tank for work. It's okay. The print quality isn't impressive, but it does the job. The ink is about $100 CAD for the 4 colours, but we get many hundreds of pages out of that. Just be sure to use it regularly because the nozzles are finicky bitches.

Classic Canadian indie rock albums ranked by how old it makes you feel to see them called ‘classic’
  • You're right. Indie being short for independent, e.g. shit some band records on the cheap, typically with little attention paid to production both during recording, and post. I'm not sure why people think it's a genre.

  • I'm very new and I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but is there any way to set folder (and future subfolder) permissions on Ubuntu?

I use the Arrs and new folders are made automatically when something completes, but I constantly have to use Plex to optimize my videos before they'll play. Unfortunately, the new folders get locked when they're made.

I'm not sure what I've done to my setup, but I'd love some help if anyone is willing.
