Former Ronald Reagan staffers endorse Kamala Harris for president
  • This post is on lemmy.ml

Unless you're posting radical left propaganda (actual radical, not what the Republicans say is radical) you'll be downvoted to hell and never get any actual conversation or discussion out of it. Trying to have an actual discussion here is a waste of time and effort that would be more effectively used elsewhere.

Respawn is developing ‘the final chapter’ of the Star Wars Jedi story, EA says
  • Yeah the movie issues really go back to one root cause. They needed to write and maintain a single cohesive storyline for the trilogy. Allowing the directors to also write the movies as they wanted without any apparent oversight AND switching them in the middle and back was where the issues came from.

JJ started a story, Rian came in and threw that out the window to do what he wanted, then they brought JJ back in, who basically finished the story he started, largely ignoring the middle. It wasn't cohesive in any way and felt disjointed throughout because of it.

China blames the US for failure on ceasefire as war on Gaza nears 1 year
  • Well we know for a fact that the US doesn't even care about our own children dying. Why would we care about ones on the other side of the planet?

And we keep trying to reduce medical coverage and public funding for healthcare. Hospitals are being closed all over the US.

To be honest, it's on brand.

Reggaeton star Nicky Jam deletes endorsement after Donald Trump misgendering
  • No it has nothing to do with the misgendering itself.

It is 100% that Nicky realized that mistake meant that Trump did absolutely nothing to know who he was, not even looking at a photo, before introducing him on stage. That his endorsement meant literally nothing to him other than the publicity.

While not doing much research is generally common in Hollywood and similar fields, people at least will look at your photo first. Trump didn't even bother to do that.

Reggaeton star Nicky Jam deletes endorsement after Donald Trump misgendering
  • No it's simpler than that. He had no idea who Nicky was, and in his mind that's a female name so clearly introducing her as a hot woman is correct.

It has nothing to actually do with Nicky Jam.

Ohio sheriff suggests residents keep a list of homes with Harris yard signs
  • My God that headline is terrible. That's the most sane shit he said.

"When people ask me...What’s gonna happen if the Flip — Flopping, Laughing Hyena Wins?? I say...write down all the addresses of the people who had her signs in their yards! Sooo...when the Illegal human ‘Locust’ (which she supports!) Need places to live...We’ll already have the addresses of the their New families...who supported their arrival!" the post said.

He shouldn't have access to sharp objects, nonetheless a firearm, or be fucking Sheriff. He's a danger to his community.

It's been a few days since I told people Sticker Mule is a shitty company
  • The "issue" is that after receiving backlash for their public support of Trump, they publicly tried to state that it's not an issue because they also have people that support Biden... then the official company account is responding to pro-Trump posts on social media with heart eyes emojis.

It proves the original response they made trying to reduce the backlash from their political commentary, with subsequent reduction in sales and massive negative publicity, was only a platitude. They fucked around, found out, released a half-assed response to try and reduce the damage... and now apparently think it's been long enough that people forgot so they're publicly posting shit supporting Trump again. They're now being called out for the blatant lie to try to save the company.

Also, what is a “sticker mule”?

A company that sells things like custom stickers. One of many similar companies. They don't produce a unique product, it just happened to be a company that was a decent price, fast, and reliable. No issue until they themselves decided the right thing to do was to have the company wade into politics supporting a massively controversial person... for whatever stupid reason.

For further context, I recommend reading some articles about the original email. A few quick ones pulled from Google randomly since I know most people won't bother to search on their own, but may click a link provided.

Why are the webcam/microphone switches red when the component is disabled and black when enabled (instead of the other way around)?
  • Technically, the color has always indicated the opposite of the expected default.

Passive indicators on switches like this historically have used the color to signify when something is disabled, because normally you expect that thing to be enabled. Look back to old devices with mute and disable switches like the old iPhones, Palm devices, etc. and the color always signified the thing being disabled. The default state is enabled, and the switch is disabling it.

Active indicators like LEDs being used on devices to indicate things like the mic or cam being on are generally newer. But even going back to things like the red recording lights, that's because the expected default state was off, and the indicator was showing it was in a secondary state.

The color in both cases indicates the thing being controlled is in a secondary state, but the expected default state is different in the two scenarios.

The Taylor Swift effect is small but may just swing it for Kamala Harris
  • I assume that's what they were referencing. Trump has mentioned Taylor several times in the past, and none resulted in a response like this.

She may not have publicly endorsed anyone if Trump had not retweeted that clearly fake shit implying that Swift was endorsing him. Not responding at all to something so egregious would be seen by many as an implicit endorsement.
