  • I don't mean to pick on this comic, rather the culture in general, but this self deprecation, everything is shit trope is getting a little played out. There's probably 50 variants of this joke on everyone's feed and it's kinda just a downer.

  • I'm over the era of ads dominating our lives. I know not everyone can do so, but I'm willing to pay a fair rate for a fair search and AI service. If we have to continue to live in this system then I think we should better enable competition in the tech space and stop some of these mafia business monopoly tactics.

Some companies are just disgustingly greedy. I pay for a new TV, for example, and that thing is trying to download ads and report my usage non-stop and I paid fairly to own the device. I'd support any political party that actually wants to protect consumers from the nonsense business pull.

  • Putting aside for a second how the US should be dealing with the very real threat of gun violence in this country, I'm always surprised by the misunderstanding of the gravity that carrying a pistol in public has.

Its not just about keeping the safety on and making sure it doesn't go off in your pants. When you bring a gun with you, you're introducing a firearm to a situation where in many case there isnt one. That puts you and everyone else around you at significant risk of being shot now, where again, those odds used to be zero. Not only that, you're basically steering the bus now on who gets shot if violence should break out, and not everyone is trained to handle an actual confrontation with the appropriate skills.

That's what's so mind boggling. At the end of the day, carrying a weapon just makes you and everyone around you more likely to be shot, and people feel the need to do that as a state senator in Washington? It sounds pointless. I'll also add that the process of getting a concealed permit is mostly saying you won't commit a crime, and getting fingerprinted, that's generally it.

  • Good to see people agree on this. The way that gambling in sports has flourished really targets and is detrimental to young men, IMO. I've noticed that younger men tend to feel it's normal to risk a significant amount of money gambling on almost all sports, to include E-sports, when really it shouldn't be something they think about constantly.

I like gambling as much as the next person, and I feel like you should be allowed to if you're responsible, but I think we shouldn't be glorifying gambling like it's just something everyone does. Shame on all these celebrities using their status to trick younger people into gambling.

  • Exactly, all I'm saying is that there are people out there that enjoy re-imagining or updating of good content. The numbers don't lie, and people enjoying something you criticize doesn't make them stupid.

Both new IP and remakes can co-exist. I agree companies want to take the less risky option, but content creation (both in games and movies) has become more accessible than ever.

  • Why can't people make what they want to make, and if you're not interested, don't buy it? I understand being frustrated by the lack of new original IP, but that doesn't mean they can't both exist.

It's exhausting listening to the overwhelming negativity some people put out there when no one is hurting them.

  • I don't have the most experienced perspective, and for several reasons I prefer standard to the wider formats, but I like the effort they're putting forward. At the end of the day, I'd like it to be less cost intensive to get into competitive play, but I think that's a non trivial problem.

  • I'd say the purpose of the feature is to do as intended, ensure the documents authenticity and integrity. The mechanism still requires people trust your signature (public key), so you need another strategy to establish that trust. If you wanted to share a confidential document to a person you know on discord, and they already trust your discord profile, you would need to use said profile to get people to trust the key you're going to use, belongs to and identifies you. This really isn't different from third party Cas, just a lot of certificates from them are already trusted by default and part of the internet wide key infrastructure.

  • Glad I saw this because that's exactly what I was thinking. Gun advocates love to call for the shooter, not the weapon so in this case, the shooter is absolutely affiliated and the current republican party enables and encourages this behavior. Apparently it's appropriate to pray at the vigil YOU enabled. Disgusting.
