Fairphone launches a cheaper version of the Fairphone 5 with less memory and storage - Liliputing
  • the Fairphone 5 has sold for €699 and up since it launched last summer, making it kind of pricey for a device with mid-range specs. Now the company has dropped the price to €629 and introduced a new €549 model for customers willing to sacrifice a little memory and storage.

both phones have a microSD card reader. So you're paying €150 more for just 2 more gb of RAM?

Rust in Linux lead retires rather than deal with more “nontechnical nonsense”
  • i would consider 4 years to be

    • too long amount of time for a job you don't like (it took you 4 years to realize that you don't like it?)
    • too short for a job you are committed to (you give up only after 4 years?)

After almost 4 years, I find myself lacking the energy and enthusiasm I once had

once i had? energy and enthusiasm he had only 3 years ago?! When i started reading the article i was expecting 15 years, 20, 30+

strangely when the guidance is low (2), the result is closer to what was prompted

of course, every model had its own ideas about what a soccer ball may be. I started with "football" but that gave some american results

Ford Patents A Way To Bring Ads Inside Your Car
  • if they give people those cars freely, why not

edit for the downvotes : i'm not proAdvertisement. I'm just considering a situation where, let's say in a city with a shared car service, you rent cars for a couple of hours you need, instead of owning a car (it already exists in some cities). I guess some people would be willing to see a couple of ads instead of paying for the rental and in that case: why not

  • > The burden of proof is usually on the person who brings a claim in a dispute. It is often associated with the Latin maxim semper necessitas probandi incumbit ei qui agit, a translation of which is: "the necessity of proof always lies with the person who lays charges." In civil suits, for example, the plaintiff bears the burden of proof that the defendant's action or inaction caused injury to the plaintiff, and the defendant bears the burden of proving an affirmative defense. The burden of proof is on the prosecutor for criminal cases, and the defendant is presumed innocent. If the claimant fails to discharge the burden of proof to prove their case, the claim will be dismissed.

www.theguardian.com Brazilian court orders suspension of Elon Musk’s X after it missed deadline

Social media platform to be blocked by ISPs because it did not appoint legal representative in allotted time

    > Late on Friday afternoon, Justice Alexandre de Moraes – who has been engaged in a dispute with X’s owner, Elon Musk, since April – ordered the “immediate, complete and total suspension of X’s operations” in the country, “until all court orders … are complied with, fines are duly paid, and a new legal representative for the company is appointed in the country”.

    > He gave Brazil’s National Telecommunications Agency 24 hours to enforce the decision. Once notified, the agency must pass the order on to the more than 20,000 broadband internet providers in the country, each of which must block X.

    > In an interview with the TV channel Globonews, the agency’s president, Carlos Manuel Baigorri, said the order had already been passed on to internet providers.

    > “Since we’re talking about more than 20,000 companies, each will have its own implementation time, but … we expect that probably over the weekend all companies will be able to implement the block,” he said.

    > Justice Moraes also summoned Apple and Google to “implement technological barriers to prevent the use of the X app by users of the iOS and Android systems” and to block the use of virtual private network (VPN) applications.

    > The decision imposes a daily fine of R$50,000 (£6,800) on individuals and companies that attempt to continue using X via VPN.

    > The film concerns a carnivorous amoeboidal alien that crashes to Earth from outer space inside a meteorite, landing near the small communities of Phoenixville and Downingtown, Pennsylvania. It envelops living beings, growing larger, becoming redder in color and more aggressive, eventually becoming larger than a building.

    > The baculum (pl.: bacula), also known as the penis bone, penile bone, os penis, os genitale, or os priapi, is a bone in the penis of many placental mammals. It is absent from the human penis, but present in the penises of some primates, such as the gorilla and the chimpanzee. The baculum arises from primordial cells in soft tissues of the penis, and its formation is largely influenced by androgens. The bone lies above the urethra, and it aids sexual reproduction by maintaining stiffness during sexual penetration. The homologue to the baculum in female mammals is the baubellum (os clitoridis), a bone in the clitoris.
