Neither the current nor the former president of their country is pro-Ukraine, and their two parties are the most likely to win the next election. Ukraine already tried to buy them when the conflict started, but they were rejected immediately
Outsourced War: Inside Russia’s Foreign Mercenary Force
Another report from Frontelligence team

For many in developing countries, Russia offers a chance to earn blood money they might never otherwise see. Hundreds of Cubans have taken that path, and our team Frontelligence Insight used them as a case study to find out how many foreigners are now fighting for Russia.🧵Thread
2/ In 2023, a major data leak exposed records of hundreds of Cuban mercenaries, later investigated by @InformNapalm. We analyzed 176 personal files and found that most recruits were between 30 and 39 years old, followed by those aged 40 to 49 - with a few even over 60.
3/ With their full names in hand, tracing their whereabouts on Russian social media was relatively easy. One mercenary in particular, Enriquez Linares Livan Michel, proved especially useful. His social media profile contained both photographs and geodata.

02:47 - First Alstom tram in Besançon, France
03:35 - More trains for Paris RER network
04:21 - Tram network expansion in Warsaw, Poland
05:02 - Metro extension in Oslo, Norway
06:11 - First Bozankaya battery-trolleybus in Prague, Czechia
07:01 - Fences at the tram stops in Mendoza, Argentina
I gotta say those fences in Mendoza look really bad, but I'm glad to see they are at least expanding their trams
How heavy is that?
It is lovely to see so many people training their AIs

They might need to commute in, but they don't have to drive in. The vast majority of people going to Manhattan doesn't drive, they take the subway, buses, trains and bikes. Only 20% of the people traveling through the congestion zone is in a vehicle and only 2% of the poor drove in.
Workers that needed to drive in wasted a lot of their valuable hours stuck in gridlock traffic, burning their own costly gasoline and being prevented from reaching their job site, costing them more than congestion pricing
That's a common misconception about congestion price in NY. The poor wasn't driving to Manhattan in the first place, they represented only 2%, and the money generated by congestion pricing will be reinvested back into public transport.
Climate Town did a great video on this subject, with more details if you are interested:

What's really bad for the poor is car centric design, where you are forced to have a car and spend, on average, $12k annually to maintain it

You don't need to widen roads for that. In fact, it might be the worst option due to induced demand. For the curious, see:
More Lanes are (Still) a Bad Thing

The quote specifically mentions "widen any roads". I haven't read Charlottesville plans, but it could have included other options like public transport and bike infrastructure.
Guess it is time to fill in that niche, 😉 😉

If you ever want feel-good tears, go read the reviews of electric tricycles
Attached: 4 images If you ever want feel-good tears, go read the reviews of electric tricycles. There are so many great stories and photos of people regaining mobility, reconnecting with their spouse/friends/family, and just having fun. #cycling #biking
"My wife loves her trike, happiest I've ever seen her and we've been together for 44 years."
"I'm 91 years old, 92 next month. My trike lets me exercise my heart, lungs, and legs while having fun…Never planned to live this long, don't know how to act but me and my trike have fun every day."
"We bought one for my husband (disabled Veteran)…he can't walk but maybe 100 steps. OMG!! It only took me 35 years to find something we could do together!!!…We kid about 'we got TRIKES' and we're 'GOIN RIDIEN!!' I love my husband and am Sooo happy to ride with him!!!"
Let your city know, contact your council, tell your experience, and ask for protected bike lanes :)

There Is a Road to Ukrainian Victory — If Europe Chooses to Walk It
Ukraine can still win this war. That sentence shouldn’t be controversial, but in much of Western Europe, it now feels like a radical statement. Defeatist narratives have crept into policy circles and the press, reinforcing the illusion that Russia is somehow destined to win and that Europe’s only ro...
It sounds like your city does not prioritize trains at all
train was PACKED and spent 10m at every stop
add more wagons or increase frequency for example
then they hit a car
intersections with car traffic are always a problem and they should be minimized
train was every 10. Some days every 30, some days 2 in a row
i can bet the tracks share the same space with regular roads and signaling does not prioritize public transit, which usually leads to this sort of inconsistent schedule
that didn’t make it any easier
that's usually the excuse used to cut funding to public transit instead of the other way around: "see it doesnt work, why waste money on it". They never mention how it's been underfunded for decades, how cars are always prioritized, and the success cases seen all around the world where it works properly
does the train increase commerce in an area?
stations are usually prime real state for commerce and housing due to all the foot traffic it brings. Just look at stations in Japan, they are basically big shopping malls, without all the unnecessary parking, and high towers all around for housing
Just chill in the cabin with some chicken soup as much as needed, and comeback to your happily rambles whenever you feel like it. Btw, have you finished God of War by now?
How big is that? 100 m²?

I thought you needed one more lane, so we approved $600 million to fund highway widening while public transport continues underfunded:
It looks like it was taken from the tower in Crest, France, but I might be wrong
What did you end up doing? Did you go with no batteries and automatic ATS in the end?
The reduced time between detection and engagement, driven by real-time drone surveillance and the high velocity of FPV attack drones, has created a hostile environment for traditional armored platforms on the battlefield.
This battlefield approach is likely to become a lasting part of Russian military practice, making it relevant for those preparing to counter Russian aggression

Shows like HarmonQuest?
I just started watching it after seeing someone comment about it, and I really like it, but the show is so short that I'll probably be done by the end of the week
Does anyone have any other recommendations?
I have never actually played any ttrpg, but I got the itch now and I have to scratch it while I look for groups to actually play it

How to satiate chemical hunger from prisoners?
I forgot to feed a prisoner recently, which led to them going on berserk mode, so I'm trying to avoid more trouble. Is it possible to give a prisoner something for chemical hunger?
I had a pawn go to a random cell to smoke some smokeleafs, but I'm unable to figure out how to make them pick up any chemicals to drop to a prisoner

Can't I butcher animals killed by spike traps?
I'm only able to haul them to a shelf, where they keep decaying until they become a skeleton
I just had two man eating raccoons killed, one by a shot, another by a trap
I was able to butcher the one that was shot , got the leather and meat from it. Butcher table has bill to butcher forever
But the other one I can't do anything with it
I have another dozen skeletons on my shelves that might have had the same problem
no mods enable, just base games and all dlcs
First time playing this, so I'm still learning the ropes
Ban player from taking free kick?
cross-posted from: https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/post/42264476
Is it possible to have a player Banned from taking free kicks?
I have a CB that's 2m tall, with 17 jumping reach, but as he is the second best FK taker, he's usually there to take them when the 1st one isnt in the roster
I tend to rotate a lot, so I'd need to add 20 other players to take FK for 8 different FK options, which would be a hassle lol
I guess there is always a first

After that thumping, I'd do the same personally.

Must visit parks outside the USA?
cross-posted from: https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/post/40425728
I was planning a trip to the USA to visit their parks, which seem to be amazing, but due to recent daily shenanigans involving immigrants, I'll have to post pone the visit
With that in mind, I'm looking for alternatives, any recommendations? I have 30 days and I'd prefer to be limited to 1 airplane ticket if visiting more than one park in this period. Multiple train connections or other transport alternatives are fine
