  • Hey there, as far as I know, degenerate is not a slur or anything, so no, I don't intend to.

  • Well, I do get fucked from time to time and it's nice. Thanks. Did you feel this comment was achieving something? Anyway, on the ban list you go.

  • Thank you!

  • Thanks for the kind words!

  • Can't say I have one, as that was pretty much the niche (freedom of speech where you're allowed to say anything as long as it's not illegal or hurting other people) I tried to fill because it was empty. Haven't really checked newer instances, so don't know if there's one with similar mindset.

  • Thank you for the support so far!

Well, the only path I see is to not participate which is what I did when Facebook let me down years ago, then the same with Reddit and now Lemmy.

  • Ain't that the truth! As someone who's center-left for the most part, I feel that every day.

But my real issue is pretty much that Lemmy has almost no other content besides political one - I'm fine not fitting in with the online masses politically but I kinda can't find anything else to do on here.

  • Nope, I treat reports as confidential. Well, "every time" was a bit of an exaggeration, cause I mostly get spam or "I disagree with this so I report it" reports, but astro turfing does happen multiple times a month.

  • It does. Source: The fucking reports screen every time I log in and my instance isn't even large.

  • So I can start murdering kittens to protect the kids and unless you come up with an alternative, I can continue murdering kittens? Flawless logic.

  • Same. My favourite was when cats started dying of alcohol poisoning because as they walked through the tavern, alcohol was on their paws and when they licked said paws, they got drunk.

Except there was a bug which caused them to intake a full dose of alcohol when licking instead of just the bit they actually licked.

  • Aside from the main point of the article, how the fuck does it happen that someone votes since 1991 even though he's not eligible?

Does no one check that? Where I live, they have a list of people who can come to a vote in that specific region and unless you can present an official ID proving you're that person, you can't vote.

  • And around 2 million boys just in the US alone!

  • That simply isn't true. It's really great at a certain kind of tasks. And it does help you be more productive if you learn to use it well.

And yeah, the code is sometimes buggy and sometimes insecure. That's why you can't just blindly merge whatever it writes.

  • Why are you lying? Lemmy creators are not leftists, they advocate for people getting murdered by the state, they advocate for authoritarianism and control of population. That's why people dislike them, not because they're "leftists."

  • In sci-fi, there are generally three types of time travel:

    • you can alter the past - this is mostly full of holes and generally not to be found in new media
    • the past is set in stone - this is the scenario you're describing - the past has already happened, including you travelling to it and seeing your younger self which means your younger self has seen you
    • multiverses - each time travel creates a new parallel universe, meaning whatever you do doesn't change anything because you're changing an alternate timeline, not yours
