‘What we publish will stay with you’: inside a small but mighty literary hit factory
  • I love reading about these tiny publishers and indie labels, where the focus gets put back on the artists’s work rather than being hyper-focussed on profits. Super admirable 🙌

Opinion: The Dad from Bluey Must Be Stopped [SAITRE]
  • I feel this. That said, parents should all aspire to be Bluey’s dad, I know I do (even though I consistently fall short, I keep trying!).

Vegan influencer Zhanna Samsonova 'dies of starvation' after decade of only eating raw fruit and vegetables
  • That’s about as valid as “guns don’t kill people, people do”.

The Netherlands short 390.000 homes in 2023
  • Haha I like your disclaimer, as it was indeed very inviting to reply with a “still a swamp” :)

  • Less food”? What are you talking about? Most of the land used for livestock is for exported meat. Also, meat is an incredibly unsustainable source of food.

Reading now "What is to be done?" Absolutely fascinating!
  • Interesting, I remember really liking Fathers and Sons. Is the reference to this book obvious? Or how does that get into play?

    Ancient historical fiction?
  • The Elder (and Poetic) Edda. Beowulf fits this as well, probably.

Voyager for Lemmy does not show on Google if I search "Voyager app" or: How I learned to stop calling it wefwef and love the app anyway (2023)
  • It will take a while for the app to ‘climb’ the search result ranks (doesn’t help that ‘wefwef’ was a lot more unique of a name than Voyager, but we’ll get there 💪).

What are your favourite books, any genre!
  • East of Eden, hands down. That said, it’s hard to explain why (a short description of this book will always sound dull and boring)—I suppose it’s the character development. It’s truly something else.

Anna Karenina, but not because of Anna (she’s kind of a dickhead); because of Levin. So good.
