I couldn't find anybody who would cut a custom pickguard in the COVID times, so I did it myself
  • nice. i bet the body weighs a good bit unless there’s some relief in there!

always a fan of zero inlay necks, they look so clean. the white on maple really works for me

Sometimes it’s the simple things you love. What’s yours?
  • when i drove my beamer for the first time… it was over. the responsiveness of both the steering and accelerator, matched with all the creature comforts (even in a 30+ year old vehicle!) and classic styling… have owned an e30 that i stupidly got rid of, and now an e34, looking at purchasing a new (to me) e83 x3. truly, the bmw is the ultimate driving machine.

(psa if you are not rich or willing to turn wrenches often, they may not be the wisest choice…)

What are your niche hobbies you’d like to share with other people?
  • ooh very nice… i better not look into it or i will be buying more pens… haha.

my biggest issue is finding paper that is not super expensive and can hold the ink well… bristol board is my favorite but loose sheets are annoying. i’ve found platinum’s carbon black to be the absolute best ink, after trying out many goulet and noodler’s blacks…

What are your niche hobbies you’d like to share with other people?
  • oh, absolutely!

i spent way too much buying my grail pen a couple years back (pilot namiki falcon with 14k soft flex nib) and it is an absolute dream… though i do still love my pilot metropolitan and cheap jinhaos!

    My '94 Miata
  • wow! what year? 34k is insanely low, i can imagine it was either meticulously kept or you have had to deal with a lot of updating…

either way, beautiful! i’ve always been a fan of pop up headlights.

Any classic BMW fans here? Heres my daily, a 1993 525i 5-speed that just hit 200k
  • i bet that td is a beast! i’ve been thinking about looking into a newer diesel bmw myself.

sitting next to my beamer in the driveway is a 1980 mercedes 300td i inherited, so i am keenly aware to diesel’s drawbacks. what was once cheaper than gasoline is now close to $5 a gallon for the past couple years, so it’s just been sitting.

both vehicles are great, the td is naturally aspirated though and slow as shit :-)
