  • The point the above user is trying to make is that it shouldn't look like it's painted on, it should look like actual rust. Their screenshot looks like a high school art project lol.

    Terminator Zero - Series Discussion
  • terminator zero story spoiler

but felt a bit childish in other areas and it’s not as accomplished as BES.

Terminator 1 worked because it was a horror/thriller movie about a relentless robot chasing people; Terminator 2 worked because of its cutting edge special effects (it looked like that in 1991! insane!) and exciting action scenes. Terminator 3 and beyond started to focus so heavily on the time travel and paradoxes but that was never the funnest or most interesting part of the franchise. Sarah Connor Chronicles (the short-lived Fox TV series from the late 2000s) also had a similar focus on time travel, but I give it a pass because Lena Headey AND Shirley Manson were in it lol.

Terminator Zero, at about the midway part of the season, reveals that its main plot is about turning all of the different timelines of all the movies into canon. Actually now that I write that, it sounds cool, and it probably sounded cool on paper to Mattson Tomlin (the writer), but I think in execution it was lacking.

  • I started watching this last night. Something felt really off about the whole movie, the way it looked, the way it was edited, and the actors all seemed like they didn't know what movie they were in. I got about 10-15 minutes in til whatever scene has Cate Blanchett hand to hand fighting with someone and dodging punches and stuff and just turned it off lol.

    Terminator Zero - Series Discussion
  • I finished the season last night. Decided to wait a day to let my thoughts on the show settle in before I wrote anything. That article shares a lot of the same sentiments I had about Terminator Zero though, written much better than I would have done it lol.

  • Terminator Zero just came out today. Might be too early for most to have started it yet, though hopefully people will stop by more and more as the week passes.

What are your impressions of the show so far? Things you liked/disliked? What surprised you? Did you feel like there were missed opportunities? Thoughts on the cast/writing/direction/animation?

Microsoft is bringing annoying Windows 11 Start menu ads to Windows 10
  • First, going to say that putting ads into Win10 is bad.

But I also wonder, how many people even use the start menu anymore? I almost never even look at mine. I use it for one thing: to shut down my computer. All of my most used apps are on the quick launch bar or are shortcuts on my desktop.

  • I read the mod log regularly. I lol'd pretty hard when I saw the great Rooki himself get banned that day. Extremely not surprised to see that this has happened, it is typical LW admin behavior.

Soliciting Feedback for Improvements to the Media Bias Fact Checker Bot
  • Get rid of it entirely. In another one of your comments you acknowledged that it "seemed" like the bot is an extension of the mods telling everyone else what to think. You are close. It doesn't seem that way, it is that way.

Also, bot is annoying AF. If you really are in love with so much, make it an opt-in service and it can DM all the psychos who want to be spammed by it.

The Distribution of Users’ Computer Skills: Worse Than You Think (2016)
  • I started noticing this 10 years ago. To me, this isn't some new phenomenon. However, it feels even worse now than it did back then.

The number one thing that makes me go JackieChanWTF.jpg is when people don't even know how to navigate through directories.

Joe Biden suddenly leads convicted felon Donald Trump in multiple battleground states
  • Imagine how detached from reality you need to be

I agree with you. But I just want to point out that we are far, far past the "imagine if" stage. At this point in time, it is "witness in reality" how detached from reality Trump supporters are.

"Imagine if" sounds dismissive and complacent. These people are an actual threat to everyone, including themselves.

If you aren't angry about the shit these fucks are pulling, then get angry; if you are already angry, get angrier. Then go out and vote against them.
