Elon's "extremely hardcore" toxic work culture means people are forced to take Adderall without a prescription to meet their workload. Just ask SpaceX employees.
  • In some cases they literally prescribe methamphetamine. It's sold under the brand desoxyn. My ex girlfriend had it. Since then, I've stopped conflating the two. They are similar but not quite the same.

I Can't Drink Now Like I Used to a Few Years Ago (26M), is that Normal?
  • I'll speak from experience: I used to like having a tolerance because it allowed me to "hang" with people that were heavier drinkers than I was. All this ended up doing for me was pave the way for alcoholism to set in.

What was the worst case of dejá vu you have ever experienced?
  • Ive had this experience multiple times as well. What's really freaky is that Ive had it happen years later and I don't even remember the dream but it comes back to me in the moment and gives me goosebumps. I'm normally not very superstitious or anything so it's an interesting phenomenon.

Like you, it has never happened for any life altering events, just silly situations.

  • Happy belated birthday! I relate with you on the finding any excuse to drink. When I finally gave it up, most of what I did ultimately served my need to consume alcohol. I had to reprogram my entire way of thinking too because it was my sole motivation for everything. Life is about more than that.

3 weeks in and navigating social settings
  • Congrats on the 3 weeks. That's huge! It sounds like you want to change your life and have taken steps to do it. That is huge and I'm proud of you.

The things you are feeling are normal and something I can relate to. Navigating a life that I built for myself that is surrounded by alcohol was and is one of the most challenging things I've ever done. I personally had to take a lot of my time and prioritize my sobriety before I was ready for social gatherings again. Your milage may vary. That said, once i did go to a party, I realized most people had no clue I wasn't drinking. I was much more self conscious about the fact. I would bring NA beer with me or Seltzer and most people wouldn't ask or care what I was drinking.

Good luck on your journey and I hope you have a kick ass halloween!

The Best Password Managers in 2023
  • If an attacker compromises the page or does a man in the middle and injects a form that isn't displayed, it can trick your password manager to auto fill your login information and then send it anywhere. But that's just one vector and if an attacker has compromised the server, there are a number of attack vectors they could take.

The Daily CheckIn for Friday August 25th - Just for Today, We are NOT Drinking!
  • I'm with you! Even though I guess it's technically Saturday for me. Not drunk but I did try some athletic brewing Octoberfest NA and it was really tasty. Used to be one of my favorite kind of beers this time of year so it hit home with that nostalgia and none of the regret.
