An Android app to rank your favorite things, using simple pair-wise matchups. - dessalines/rank-my-favs
Do you keep lists of your favorite things, such as movies, books, recipes, or music albums? You might keep list(s) that looks like this:
- Network (1976)
- Lone Star (1996)
- Devils (1971)
- The Seventh Seal (1957)
- ... Many more films
But how do you rank these?
You might be tempted to order them by preference, but this could quickly get overwhelming for long lists.
A much easier method is to use pairwise comparisons, which shows you single head-to-head pairs, and has you choose which one you like best.
After doing a small number of these matchups, Rank-My-Favs can confidently create a ranked list for you.
Under the hood, Rank-My-Favs uses the advanced Glicko rating system, to determine how many matches are necessary, and for ranking.
Features
- Import your existing lists quickly.
- Uses the advanced Glicko rating system.

I want to backup some apps and app data in a zip file and be able to restore it into a device.
It's okay if I have to use something like shizuku to enable backups.
I say wiki as a point of reference, as it's the thing I'm most used to for organizing information, but anything that lets me create links on specific words, leading me to a different page/display can work.
I prefer FOSS, but anything that's a free download on the play store is fair game, TrackerControl should manage to block annoying ads.
Heya, Looking for an app to track tasks I need/want to do and then immediately forget about. I've tried diary-apps but those don't really work
So I'm looking for a private Kanban/task organizer, preferably f-droid or Github and offline. I have a public Nextcloud account, if that helps, but don't really need this to be cloud-dependant.
Thanks in advance.

Is there a way to redirect youtube links to NewPipe or similar either systemwide or at last when the link opens in Firefox?
I understand the free apps need ads, but I'd rather not watch that video than watching TWO video ads.

Not an app but a JVM library. There is a library that scrapes youtube https://github.com/TeamNewPipe/NewPipeExtractor but it's docs are hard to understand and it needs configuration to use it.
So I made a wrapper library called NewValve, which makes it a lot easier to use it in your Android or Java/Kotlin apps.

Hi guys,
Can you suggest me an Android Dashcam App.
I know I know, I'd buy seperate hardware Dashcam but until I do so please recommend me an app so that I can utilize my Phone's Camera and Mic.
I love FOSS but any app will do.
Thanks.

I decided to write about the stuff that I have running on my phone lately.
Decided to write about pretty much all the apps I use on my device. Most of them are free and open source too :P
Its there any app that let me add/select webstrips and keeps track what I've read and left off?
- • 76%bgr.com Uninstall these two Android apps right now
Make sure to delete these two fake messaging apps off your Android phone right now, before they steal your data.
> The two apps in question are called Signal Plus Messenger and FlyGram. The former was active on the Play Store for over nine months and downloaded roughly 100 times before Google took it down. FlyGram was created by the same group, and was removed back in 2021. However, both apps remain available on third-party websites and via the Samsung app store.
I'm looking for an app for household chores. The main purpose is for my kids, but I would like something that can also be used by the whole family to keep up on housework when life gets busy.
The problem I've had so far is, anything I've found that would work for us requires a subscription. I'm all for paying for an app, but I just can't afford another monthly bill right now, no matter how small
Bonus points if the app has a "points" system I could convert to a weekly allowance
i want to make sure to not forget that drunk-dialing or texting someone late at night might be a bad idea.
some substances make me a bit to chatty, lol.
just want to make sure i postpone texting until i'm sober again, without blocking texting all together.
Is there any Good alternative for Forest? I want a App to reward me for not using my phone.
Yo so I haven't updated the app for a long time, I just opened the app and I'm still getting daily content. Is this a mistake? Lol
I run LineageOS.
It seems that around July 15th, the repo for Barinsta, the FOSS instagram frontend that was abandoned about 1-2 years ago has been taken down.
The repo was hosted on codeberg, after the original author took the github repo down. The second maintainer moved the repo to codeberg, but it seems little was done to maintain it. The second maintainer seems to have deleted previous blog posts about barinsta as well.
I have the repo backed up locally (hence why I noticed), but it does not work in its current state.
Its probably not worth using instagram anyways
Any recommendations for apps with a proper tablet UI?

I wanna be able to record on my android tablet from my USB microphone and so simple edits. Basically so I can podcast on the go.
Do you recommend some good app to do that?
Now that Lemmy largely prefers webp over gifs, I'm looking for simple, effective gif to webp converters.
As usual there seems to have tons of them but most are bloated or riddled with ads.
I've been trying to find a good app for a while now but still haven't managed to find something that has a good UI and a bunch of features.
I'm currently using readera but it's a bit too ugly for my taste
I've been using geometric weather, but wondering if people have other options for weather apps.

For anyone interested, here's a new Lemmy community for sharing Android apps that go on sale in the Google Play Store: https://lemmy.ca/c/playstoredeals
Is there an acceptable app where you can scan sheet notes and listen to them? Or at least input them?
Playstore2 is really finnicky it doesn't seem that there is a of post processing and the picture needs to be taken almost perfectly.
All the others I have found are riddled with trackers and such malware.
Hi there, I'm looking for a Browser that lets me open it multiple times in multiple instances (each showing up in multitasking), a Browser limited to lets say wikipedia, one that's limited to imdb, one for lemmy etc. And if I hit a link from Wikipedia to Wikipedia in the Wikipedia browser it should open in the same instance. But if I open a Link to something else, it should open in a different instance (or a single general one)
I'd also like each of them to have an individual home screen button.
Is there something like that?

I believe that XMPP is one of the best protocols for chat communications there is, and I stand up for it. However, the clients that there are, are not comfortable for most people out there used to apps like Telegram, Whatsapp or whatever.
One can defend current XMPP clients saying that quoting with "> " is the traditional way, or that swiping to quote a message is not worth developing; I have plenty more examples like this. Well, if you think so, OK, use those clients for yourself, but become aware that many people won't use XMPP for just this reason.
After saying all this, I want to tell that I am willing to develop a new, modern looking and comfortable client for XMPP. I think of a client for Android in first instance, but I would have no problem on going further.
However, I don't know programming, so I'm searching programmers who would like to get involved in this. Although I'm not programmer, I have experience developing software projects, from internationalization to documentation, including ideas about features, testing and all other work there can be.
