I'm not saying your wrong, but he's also trying to distance himself from project 2025 and is likely aware that his support among (white) women is slipping fast. (IIRC he's lost women by 13points since Biden dropped out)

At a rally before the DNC he reassured his audience that he did "have a good personality" and "women like me". So you've got the dual stinger that you're unpopular with women and that they're likely to be the reason victory is out of reach.

Note: I mention white women because they're the only marginalized demographic that fucks with Republicans. When they lean Democrat, like they did for Obama, Republicans get cooked.

"Especially the young ones that look like my daughter."
