Yeah, it's way overdue to delete Twitter, but I also know far too many people who cling to it, providing one specious justification or another. I really don't know what still needs to happen in order for left-ish/progressive/queer/... people to finally get off of Twitter.
I thought i'd keep it just to occasionally open someone's feed, or in case Twitter changes hands again, but when they publicly reinstated multiple openly fascist people, that was the last drop. I deleted my shit immediately after that
people are addicted to their fake likes from fake friends. it's less about conversation than it's about constant make-believe validation for a life that looks envious online, but is actually shit irl
To make it worse, my kids school uses twitter. Both the school and the principal.
I get why they created the account in the first place, I just wish they would just move on, or at least add others (mastodon, bluesky, I don't even care right now) so that twitter can just achieve its full death rattle already.
She's a celebrity, she probably felt like it was important for her job. And this story isn't about Twitter, it's about AI CP and how horribly creepy and harmful it is.
well she deleted it, so i wasn't addressing her specifically, but everyone who hasn't deleted it.
also, true, AI impersonation is a huge problem, but that doesn't mean the story isn't also about twitter and how shitty it is
lastly, "child porn" is the wrong term. it's child sexual abuse material, CSAM. porn is consensual, legal, and highly regulated.
sexual abuse is none of those things
Ironically I only still have a twitter because I used it to log into tiktok and that seemed the best way to keep actual details from them. (twitter has none to give)
I'm guessing the photos she's referencing weren't edited back when she was still a teen, and that someone recently took the older photos and ran them through AI.
It says she received them when she was 14, 7 years ago. Not that it isn't a problem and that problem is definitely worse because of AI, it just to show that this has been happening a long time and that trying to blame it on AI when it happened 7 years ago is bad journalism.
