I returned my miniLED and opted for an edge lit air instead, aside from zone control for HDR content the display was a downgrade in so many ways, insane flickering, gets weirdly dark near the edges, and even though the contrast is better anything not pitch black exhibits the same amount of IPS glow as an edge lit screen, but instead of being uniform it’s blotchy and weird and it tries to match the content at a crazy low resolution of like 50x50
Wake me up when we finally get OLED
2If they keep their existing ones, they will have 13, 14, 15, 16, and 17 inch laptops. That seems a bit inefficient from a manufacturing standpoint, doesn't it?
1Apple changed the 13” and 15” MacBook Pros to 14” and 16” when they did their first redesign after introducing Apple Silicon. They kept one low-cost 13” model around using the old unibody Touch Bar design. They haven’t made a 17” MacBook Pro since 2009.
So right now it’s just 13”, 14”, and 16”. Two modern chassis and a legacy chassis taking advantage of existing manufacturing capabilities.
