I ordered some retro handhelds for the boys to get on Christmas shopping early. I got the R36s because I found it cheap and I'm pretty impressed.
Buttons feel good, it uses Emudeck on the frontend so everything looks nice, and they even shipped with Stardew Valley on the SD card. It boots up, takes a while to load but it boots up. I know one of my boys in particular is going to love this once they get them

  Oh just by luck when I was in uni and applying for jobs that came up.

First day of freedom (for two weeks) and I played video games on a PC with a friend. Turns out cybersickness is a thing. I felt like throwing up. But besides that, it was kinda fun.
The anxiety hasn't completely gone away because of failing, and just worrying about my future, but I think the more I do stuff, the more I will be in the present.

Before paying to have someone pick up my old fridge and freezer I decided to try Marketplace to give them away. It did not go well. Apparently "must be picked up ASAP today" is easily confused for "pick up maybe tomorrow" or "I'll deliver to you tomorrow in Thomastown".

We all know serving sizes are a lie. Here's another one. You're browsing the hair dye aisle because you have more grey than actual colour these days and it takes you awhile before you finally make a hopefully rightful choice. End result is NEVER what is indicated on the box.
What are some other lies we are told?
- How big the chip packet is compared to how many chips there actually are.
  
  The size of Ice creams are laughable too now.
- The look on people's faces (in commercials) when they get into a new car.

Melbcat seems a tiny bit uncomfortable again. Right as I was calling the vet to say she was feeling a bit better, but asking about the ibd flare possibility and dealing with it if this continues/comes back. They’re so sick of me calling them though. I agreed to monitor and gave her something to help.
Edit: Ok she started crying again. Vet time!
Ps. I post a lot about Melbcat being sick, but overwhelmingly she’s happy and in good condition. Her chronic stuff is being managed, she just has a lot of annoying acute issues and I do fuss.

- Just did mine as prefill for private health insurance came in (not that I earned enough this FY to get any tax benefits, but I keep it anyway just in case...)
  Income statement for my main job still not uploaded but idc the numbers match up and it should all work out. So off it goes.
  I've added extra deductions for car travel to uni and for some other safety gear I forgot that I'd bought in July last year. I should be getting about 970 back but that is after putting thousands into super that I have to start saving back up again as an immediately accessible emergency fund. I'm never doing two jobs at a time again without checking tax liabilities very carefully!

So I'm finally done with the uni stuff for two weeks. I will have to find out what's going to happen with the failed subjects. Might have to go to uni for an extra year which I'm not loving, but I feel like this is the only way for career progression, unless I do a trade. That's unfortunately not happening because I'm not very mechanically gifted. But I'm going to stop worrying about what my life will be like in ten years time because I will trust that whatever happens, happens.

I've had a very unproductive day so far at work.

Art Of Rally is such a beautiful game. My only criticism is I wish it was better optimised and could run better on lower spec hardware. It doesn't look demanding, but I'm sure it's got a bunch of shaders going on that eat up processing power.
Because it's a game that deserves to be played at full settings, 4k60fps. I can do it on my big computer, but it would be great if others could experience full settings in this age of handhelds

  It's a great balance if being a rally game without being too technical. The boring driver still wins the race, but you don't need to sit there tuning your car.
  The cars are all original, but inspired by real rally cars fron history, so it's fun looking at each one and figuring out the inspiration.
  And the game just looks gorgeous. It's simple, but everything works so well. Strong recommend on Art of Rally

So my one last possible solution to the insomnia is tomorrow night.
