"This is the first time that we've seen a carfentanil overdose death in a Riverside County resident," Chevinsky said.
Carfentanil is an elephant tranquilizer 100 times stronger than fentanyl and 10,000 times more potent than morphine.
"When we're talking about the amount of carfentanil that can be lethal, we're talking about on the range of a few grains of salt," Chevinsky explained.

Carfentanil was first synthesized in 1974. I guess ABC hasn't been following the news lately.
As soon as they call anything an elephant tranquilizer you know they are making stuff up. They have claimed there was elephant tranquilizer in drugs since the 80s.

Edit: oh and apparently it was first synthesized in 1974 meaning that its 51 years old which is pretty far from new
